LAHORE, Aug 09 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif met with members of the Punjab Assembly from Vehari, including Muhammad Yousuf Kasaila, Malik Nausher Anjum Langrial, Mian Muhammad Saqib Khurshid and Muhammad Naeem Akhtar Khan Bhabha.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on political affairs, ongoing development projects and public welfare initiatives.
The MPAs thanked Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for transforming the single, dilapidated Vehari-Multan Road, which had remained in poor condition for five decades, into a modern two-lane expressway.
They described the construction of the Vehari-Multan Road as a game-changing project and said millions of people from four districts were benefiting from the facility every day.
The lawmakers also apprised the chief minister of the positive public response to the rehabilitation of the Multan-Vehari Road, saying the project would prove a milestone in the development and prosperity of the region.
They also thanked Maryam Nawaz for launching the electrobus service in Vehari, saying the service connecting Vehari with Burewala and Tibba Sultanpur had provided an excellent travel facility to the public. They termed free travel for students, women and senior citizens an unprecedented initiative.
The MPAs said mega development projects worth around Rs21 billion had been launched for the first time in the history of the district in the tehsils of Burewala, Mailsi and Vehari. They added that the beautification of Vehari Rail Bazaar had ushered in a new era of urban development in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the spirit of serving the people of Punjab had been inherited from her leader, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. She said the immediate construction of the Vehari-Multan Road was the right of the people of the area and Allah Almighty had enabled her government to fulfil it.
Maryam Nawaz said a culture of balanced development had been introduced across the province for the first time through the Punjab Development Programme.
Referring to the drainage situation during the monsoon, the chief minister said the situation had improved significantly this year due to new drainage projects. She said rainwater that previously remained stagnant for days, weeks or even months was now being drained within hours.
She said farmers in South Punjab were benefiting from the Kissan Card, while students were receiving support through the Laptop Scheme and Honhaar Scholarship Programme.
