LAHORE, Apr 07 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif personally oversaw rainwater drainage operations across various cities of the province following heavy rainfall, ensuring a prompt and coordinated response by the administration.
The CM directly monitored emergency measures for water clearance, while Deputy Commissioners, WASA officials, and other relevant departments remained fully active in the field to manage the situation.
In Lahore, rainwater was drained from several areas, including Supreme Court Road, Nabha Road, Old Anarkali, Misri Shah, Tajpura, Mozang, and Queens Road. Operations were also carried out in Waris Road, Lahore Board Road, Lawrence Road, Abid Market, Ek Moriya Pul, Litton Road, Shah Jamal, Empress Road, and Cooper Road.
Drainage was completed in various localities such as Laxmi Chowk, GPO, Railway Station, Garden Town, Ravi Road, Bhati Gate, Johar Town, Tikka Chowk, and Wahdat Road. The majority of the city has now been cleared of rainwater, restoring normal traffic flow and routine activities.
On the Chief Minister’s directions, similar operations were conducted in other cities. In Sahiwal and adjoining districts, swift measures were taken to ensure timely drainage after heavy rainfall.
CM Maryam Nawaz also appreciated the performance of WASA teams and directed them to continue their work with dedication to facilitate the public during inclement weather.
