LAHORE, Jun 02 (APP): Lahore Traffic Police on Tuesday issued a comprehensive traffic advisory plan to ensure smooth traffic flow, public convenience and effective traffic management during the Pakistan-Australia One-Day International (ODI) series matches at Gaddafi Stadium.
According to spokesperson, two SPs, six DSPs and 90 inspectors would supervise traffic arrangements, while more than 1,000 traffic wardens would be deployed at Gaddafi Stadium, along team movement routes and on alternative roads.
He said that 10 forklifts and five breakdown vehicles would also remain on duty to curb wrong parking and ensure uninterrupted traffic flow.
Lahore Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi said that four designated parking stands had been allocated to facilitate cricket fans and provide easy access to the stadium. The CTO said that major arteries, including Mall Road, Canal Road, Jail Road and Main Boulevard Gulberg, would remain open for traffic throughout the event. He added that no road would be closed for traffic during the match; however, roads would be temporarily blocked for a few moments during team movements and reopened immediately after the convoy passed.
According to the traffic plan, cricket fans approaching from Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road and Ferozepur Road could park their vehicles at Government College for Boys via Ferozepur Road. Citizens coming from Thokar Niaz Baig, Johar Town and Kahna would be able to use parking facilities at Government College for Boys via Kalma Chowk and Centre Point. Similarly, spectators arriving from Cantonment and Defence areas could park their vehicles near Sunfort Hotel and Liberty Market.
The CTO said that citizens would be kept informed about the changing traffic situation through the Rasta App and Rasta FM 88.6. He advised the public to contact the Police Helpline 15 for further guidance and assistance.
He urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel towards Gaddafi Stadium during team movements and follow the directions of traffic personnel regarding parking and entry to the stadium.
