Chiniot Police return Rs15 million dowry to woman in swift action against domestic abuse

CHINIOT, Jun 13 (APP): In a significant step towards safeguarding women’s rights, the Anti-Women Harassment and Violence Cell in Chiniot on Saturday successfully facilitated the return of dowry items worth Rs15 million to a woman who had been deprived of her belongings following a domestic dispute.
According to police officials, the woman was allegedly expelled from her home by her husband and in-laws due to family disagreements, while her requests for the return of her dowry were repeatedly denied. Seeking justice, she approached the Anti-Women Harassment and Violence Cell for assistance.
Acting promptly on her complaint, the specialized police unit intervened and ensured the recovery and return of all dowry items to the affected woman. The action was widely viewed as a demonstration of the police department’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of women.
District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Naveed Atif , while exclusively talking to APP, said that issues concerning women are being addressed on a priority basis. He emphasized that the Punjab Police is taking all possible measures to prevent domestic violence, harassment, and abuse, and advised women facing emergencies to seek assistance through the Women Safety App, Punjab Police Public App, or the Virtual Women Police Station.
