Chairman WASA Punjab visits Sialkot to review rainwater drainage

On the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chairman of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Punjab, Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan and Secretary Housing and Urban Development Noor-ul-Amin Mengal visited Sialkot and reviewed the process of rainwater drainage from the low-lying areas of the city.

SIALKOT, Aug 20 (APP): On the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chairman of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Punjab, Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan and Secretary Housing and Urban Development Noor-ul-Amin Mengal visited Sialkot and reviewed the process of rainwater drainage from the low-lying areas of the city.
As much as 178mm rainfall was recorded in the city from 3 am to 9 am. MD WASA Faisal Shahzad was also present on this occasion. They visited Kashmir Road, Khadim Ali Road, District Court, Gohadpur, Muradpur and Nasir Town areas and reviewed the situation after the rain.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman WASA Punjab Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan said that the performance of WASA Sialkot is impressive and the drainage of water from the low-lying areas where it used to stop for days has been ensured within a few hours.
He said that in the next phase, new disposal stations will be established in Sialkot, which will further speed up the drainage of water.
Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan said that after significant improvement in the sewage system, the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is also gradually introducing a system of supplying clean water in 19-liter bottles.
He said that providing relief to the people is the manifesto of the provincial government under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and historic steps are being taken in this regard.
He said that WASA Sialkot carried out de-silting on time, which has improved the rainwater drainage system during the monsoon and the de-silting campaign has been carried out in full swing across the province.
