Chairman Senate Gilani condoles Murree Express victims’ families

Chairman Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Sunday visited the families of victims who lost their lives in the Murree Express tragedy and expressed heartfelt condolences over the loss of 11 people, here at Mohalla Sotriwat.

MULTAN, Jun 21 (APP): Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Sunday visited the families of victims who lost their lives in the Murree Express tragedy and expressed heartfelt condolences over the loss of 11 people at Mohalla Sotriwat here.
Speaking to the bereaved families, Gilani said the entire city of Multan was mourning the tragedy, describing it as a devastating incident in which several families lost their loved ones. He said no words could adequately express the grief caused by such a loss and prayed for eternal peace for the deceased and patience for their families.
“I offer my condolences on behalf of myself and my sons,” he said, adding that he had immediately directed his son, MNA Ali Qasim Gilani, to rush to Rawalpindi and ensure that all possible facilities and assistance were provided to the injured and affected families.
Gilani said that he instructed MNA Ali Qasim Gilani to ensure maximum support towards the victims. Ali Qasim Gilani contacted Rawalpindi Commissioner Amir Khattak and Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Abbas Shirazi and requested them to extend maximum support and relief to the victims and their families during the difficult time.
The Senate chairman urged the government to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured and appealed to the Punjab government to provide all possible assistance and compensation to the affected families. He also called for the return of the victims’ valuables and personal belongings.
Gilani said he would ask the Multan administration to extend maximum support to the bereaved families and expressed hope that relief and assistance would reach them without delay.
Among those present on the occasion were MPA Rana Iqbal Siraj, Rana Sajjad, Rizwan Abid Taheem, Dr Javed Siddiqui, Naseem Labar and Ali Tahir Baloch.
Family members of the victims, including Malik Ashraf Bhatti, Zubair Hussain Bhatti, Bahar Aslam, Saqib Bhatti and Ashfaq Hussain, were also present during the condolence visit.
