Ceremony held to empower children with disabilities in connection with Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day

SUKKUR, Aug 18 (APP):A colorful ceremony was organized in connection with Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day to empower children with disabilities by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and the Social Welfare Department at the Auditorium Hall, Special Education Complex on Tuesday.
The ceremony was held in collaboration with various NGOs including ICF, SF, NARI, WDSW, JSWA and other relevant departments. Additional Deputy Commissioner Sukkur-II, Majid Mako and Assistant Commissioner City Sukkur, Bushra Mansoor attended as chief guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sukkur-II, Majid Mako said that he was delighted to attend the ceremony as children with disabilities were showcasing excellent performances. He said that we live in an independent country for which our elders rendered great sacrifices, therefore we all should work hard for the progress and prosperity of our homeland.
He said that children with disabilities are also a valuable asset of our country. We should provide them with a conducive environment where they can celebrate happiness, actively participate in cultural activities and celebrate Independence Day with pride and joy.
During the ceremony, children with disabilities presented the national anthem and various tableaus, which were highly appreciated by the participants. On the occasion of Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, an Independence Day cake was also cut at the ceremony.
The ceremony was attended in large numbers by Regional Director Special Education and Rehabilitation Abdul Quddous, District Scouts Officer Fahim Memon, officers and representatives of the Social Welfare Department, children with disabilities, and various relevant departments.
