BZU Pharmacy students showcase innovative research projects

MULTAN, May 19 (APP): The Bahauddin Zakariya University hosted a successful “Final Year Research Poster Showcase 2021-2026” at the Faculty of Pharmacy, where final-year Pharm-D students presented innovative research projects on modern pharmaceutical and scientific topics.

The event was organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry under the Faculty of Pharmacy.

A total of 169 final-year students participated in the academic activity, while 60 students completed registration through an online Google Form. The students were later divided into 18 research groups and worked for nearly two months on advanced pharmaceutical research projects through teamwork and continuous effort.

The showcased projects covered a wide range of modern research areas including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), molecular docking, drug design, ADMET analysis, QSAR modeling, virtual screening, anti-cancer research, anti-diabetic studies and anti-microbial drug development. Students demonstrated their research abilities, creativity and scientific understanding through posters and presentations.

Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof Dr. Samina Afzal attended as the chief guest whild other participants included Prof Dr. Zahid Shafiq, Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Prof Dr. Muhammad Tayyab Ansari, Dr. Muhammad Hanif and Dr. Imran along with faculty members, research scholars, students and visitors from various departments.

During the event, judges and guests reviewed the research work in detail and appreciated the students’ confidence, hard work and presentation skills. Organizers announced that all 18 groups had shown exceptional teamwork and performance; therefore, every group was awarded first position along with honorary certificates.

Speakers on the occasion said such academic and research activities help students develop scientific thinking, professional skills, communication abilities and awareness of modern technologies.

Organizer and course instructor Dr. Farhan Siddiq said the purpose of the showcase was to promote research culture, scientific thinking, computational drug design and professional learning among Pharm-D students so they could play an effective role in the pharmaceutical and research sectors in the future.

At the conclusion of the event, the efforts of organizers, faculty members, support staff and students were appreciated, while Dean Prof Dr. Samina Afzal termed the showcase a positive and proud academic achievement for the Faculty of Pharmacy.
