ATTOCK, Jul 14 (APP): A retailer in Hazro, Attock, has been arrested after police registered a case against him for allegedly making unlawful deductions from payments meant for women enrolled in the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), officials said on Tuesday.
According to police, the action was initiated after the Assistant Director of the BISP Hazro Circle lodged a formal complaint, alleging that the retailer, identified as Aziz Ahmed, had been illegally withholding more than Rs1,000 from the financial assistance of female beneficiaries.
Following the complaint, police conducted an inquiry and verified the statements of the affected women. The investigation confirmed the allegations, prompting authorities to register a case against the suspect under relevant legal provisions.
The accused was taken into custody and shifted to jail, while further investigation is underway. Authorities reiterated their commitment to protecting BISP beneficiaries and warned that anyone involved in exploiting welfare recipients would face strict legal action.
