BISE Rawalpindi chairman attributes rising pass percentage to merit-based evaluation reforms

RAWALPINDI, Oct 23 (APP):Chairman Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi Professor Dr. Iqbal Mahmood on Friday said that the pass percentage for the Intermediate Part-I Annual Examination 2026 reached 54.23 percent, marking an 11 percent increase compared to the previous academic year.
Addressing a press conference along with Controller Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan, the chairman attributed the pass rate rise to the fair marking system and substantial teaching methodology being practiced at college level education.
“The sustained improvement in academic results reflects the dedication of teaching staff and educational institutions across the division”, he said while highlighting the year-on-year performance.
Professor Dr. Iqbal Mahmood credited the performance gains to reformative measures led by Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat and Secretary Higher Education Punjab Ghulam Fareed.
He emphasized that merit-based transparency remain the core operational priorities of the board, noting that both public and private sector students delivered notable academic achievements.
Speaking on examination administration, Controller Exams Tanveer Asghar Awan affirmed that the Board strictly enforced a zero-tolerance policy against unfair means and cheating networks under explicit directives from the Punjab government.
He added that systemic upgrades were implemented across the paper assessment and marking mechanisms to ensure standard evaluation across all examination centers.
