RAWALPINDI, Sep 03 (APP):Benazir Bhutto Hospital administration has instituted round-the-clock fire safety protocols, clear emergency routes, and functional suppression networks across all high-vulnerability departments.
Detailing compliance measures following recent safety inspections by senior provincial and district officials, Medical Superintendent (MS) Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), Dr. Sharjil Sheikh said that the health facility has conducted a comprehensive operational audit of fire extinguishers, alarms, hydrants, and emergency exit signage.
In an exclusive conversation with APP on Thursday, Dr. Sharjil Sheikh, emphasized that critical care units particularly the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric wards and Gynecology departments have been placed under enhanced monitoring to eliminate electrical short-circuit risks and ensure unimpeded evacuation pathways for infants, patients and staff.
The MS confirmed that hospital staff are participating in mandatory emergency response mock drills along with Rescue 1122 and Civil Defence to ensure swift action during any potential crisis, strictly adhering to directives issued by CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the specialized health department.
To a question, Dr Sharjil informed that the hospital has fully activated 5 hydrant systems, updated fire extinguishers and fire safety alarms systems.
