Bangladeshi civil servants visit Commissioner Office, briefed on governance, reforms

A delegation of Bangladeshi civil services officers visited the Commissioner Lahore Office on Tuesday, where they were warmly received and briefed on Punjab government’s governance model, public service delivery reforms and administrative mechanisms.

LAHORE, May 12 (APP): A delegation of Bangladeshi civil services officers visited the Commissioner Lahore Office on Tuesday, where they were warmly received and briefed on Punjab government’s governance model, public service delivery reforms and administrative mechanisms.
The briefing session, chaired by Commissioner Lahore Marryam Khan, was attended by Director General of Civil Services Academy Farhan Aziz Khawaja and senior administrative officers. Bouquets were presented to the visiting delegation upon arrival.
Speaking on the occasion, Farhan Aziz Khawaja gave an introductory overview of cooperation and professional exchanges between the civil services of Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Commissioner Lahore Marryam Khan highlighted Punjab government’s initiatives aimed at improving public service delivery and facilities for citizens. She said the Punjab government had launched several transformative programmes for people belonging to all walks of life. She said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif regularly reviewed the performance of all districts on a daily basis to ensure effective governance and timely implementation of public welfare initiatives.
The commissioner said sanitation, education, healthcare and revenue affairs were monitored on a daily basis, adding that the chief minister personally reviewed public health measures and administrative performance regularly.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Ali Ijaz briefed the delegation on Lahore’s administrative working and governance mechanism, while the visiting officers were also informed about climate change initiatives, performance indicators and administrative challenges.
Marryam Khan further said urban flooding preparedness and flood response operations were managed through continuous monitoring and timely coordination among relevant departments. She said during the monsoon season, complete coordination was maintained among the Met Office, Provincial Disaster Management Authority, WASA Lahore, Rescue 1122 and district administration departments.
At the conclusion of the session, the commissioner presented commemorative shields to the Bangladeshi civil services officers and DG Civil Services Academy Farhan Aziz Khawaja.
