Bajwa directs RDA to intensify action against illegal housing schemes

Parliamentary Secretary for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering (HUD&PHE) Sultan Bajwa on Saturday directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to intensify enforcement against illegal housing schemes and protect citizens from unauthorised and unapproved projects.

RAWALPINDI, Aug 29 (APP): Parliamentary Secretary for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering (HUD&PHE) Sultan Bajwa on Saturday directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to intensify enforcement against illegal housing schemes and protect citizens from unauthorised and unapproved projects.
He issued the directions while reviewing the RDA’s ongoing development projects meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, and appreciated the authority’s efforts to improve infrastructure and promote planned urban development.
Director Engineering RDA Komal Chaudhry gave a detailed presentation on various ongoing and completed development projects and briefed the meeting on the progress of major initiatives.
She informed that the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project had been completed and would be inaugurated shortly, besides briefing the participants on its development and completion status.
Chief Planner RDA Muhammad Tahir Meo briefed the meeting on approved and illegal housing schemes and the regulatory measures being taken by the authority.
Taking notice of illegal housing schemes, the Parliamentary Secretary directed the RDA to take strict action against such schemes in accordance with law and intensify enforcement measures to protect citizens from unauthorized housing projects.
He stressed that effective regulation of housing schemes was essential for planned urban development and directed the RDA to ensure strict compliance with approved rules and regulations.
