The participants reviewed security, administrative and coordination arrangements aimed at maintaining law and order, religious harmony, inter-sect tolerance and an atmosphere of brotherhood across the district during the holy month.
Attock Peace Committee reviews Muharram arrangements, calls for unity and sectarian harmony

ATTOCK, Jun 15 (APP): In a concerted effort to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram, a meeting of the District Peace Committee was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza on Monday. The participants reviewed security, administrative and coordination arrangements aimed at maintaining law and order, religious harmony, inter-sect tolerance and an atmosphere of brotherhood across the district during the holy month.
The meeting was attended by DPO Attock Sardar Mowarhan Khan, PML-N leader and former ticket holder Malik Hameed Akbar Khan, members of the District Peace Committee, Assistant Commissioners, officers of relevant departments, religious scholars, spiritual leaders and representatives of various schools of thought. Participants discussed in detail the measures being undertaken to ensure the peaceful conduct of religious gatherings, processions and other Muharram-related events.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza said Muharram-ul-Haram conveyed the timeless values of patience, sacrifice, tolerance, brotherhood and truthfulness. He assured that the district administration, in coordination with all relevant institutions, would make comprehensive arrangements to facilitate mourners and maintain a peaceful environment. DPO Sardar Mowarhan Khan said foolproof security measures were being implemented across the district and urged religious scholars and Peace Committee members to help promote peace, mutual respect and social cohesion.
During the meeting, Malik Hameed Akbar Khan and other committee members emphasized the collective responsibility of all schools of thought to uphold the sanctity of Muharram and strengthen sectarian harmony. The meeting stressed the need to avoid spreading hateful, provocative or sectarian content on social media and other platforms and called for full public cooperation with the administration and law enforcement agencies.
The session concluded with special prayers for the country’s peace, stability, prosperity and development, as well as for inter-sect harmony and the maintenance of law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram.
