ATC rejects bail pleas of three accused in Sundar kidnapping-for-ransom case
LAHORE, Sep 23 (APP):An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday rejected the bail applications of three suspects accused of kidnapping a citizen and his wife in Sundar for a ransom of Rs 6 million.
ATC Judge Malik Abid Hussain announced the decision on the bail petitions filed by Waseem Ahmad, Ali Hassan and Raheel Asghar from jail.
The prosecution opposed the bail pleas, arguing that sufficient evidence was available against the accused.
According to the case, the suspects allegedly posed as police personnel and abducted citizen Naeem and his wife, Tahira, for ransom. The accused allegedly demanded Rs6 million from the couple for their release.
The Counter Crime Department (CCD) recovered Rs5 million from the suspects, along with four laptops and two mobile phones belonging to the family.
The case was investigated by CCD Inspector Waqar, who subsequently submitted the challan before the court.
The kidnapping case was registered at Sundar police station earlier this year.
The bail plea of alleged main accused and police constable Syed Ali Hussain Shah had also previously been dismissed. A Kalashnikov was allegedly recovered from his possession.
The case also involves police constable Raheel Ahmad, who has been described as another main accused.
Meanwhile, the bail applications of co-accused Rozina alias Shazia and the accused’s daughter, Aisha Haibi, have already been allowed by the court.
