An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday granted a 10-day physical remand of PTI leader Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan in a case pertaining to alleged incendiary speeches, arson and vandalism at Sherpao Bridge during the May 9 riots.

LAHORE, Jun 03 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday granted a 10-day physical remand of PTI leader Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan in a case pertaining to alleged incendiary speeches, arson and vandalism at Sherpao Bridge during the May 9 riots.
The accused was produced before the court after completion of an identification parade. The investigating officer stated that Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan was identified during the parade and is allegedly involved in the Sherpao Bridge speeches and arson case.
The prosecution informed the court that the accused had been formally arrested in FIR No. 97/23 registered at Sarwar Road Police Station. The investigating officer further alleged that Dewan, along with other party leaders, participated in delivering provocative speeches and acts of violence, including arson and vandalism.
Inspector Zahid Saleem requested a 30-day physical remand of the accused to facilitate further investigation into the case.
The hearing was conducted by ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gill, who, after considering the arguments, approved a 10-day physical remand instead of the 30 days sought by the prosecution.
The court directed the investigating team to produce the accused again on June 13 and submit progress on the investigation.
