ATC extends interim bail of Fawad Chaudhry in five May-9 cases

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday extended the interim pre-arrest bail of former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry until April 16 in five cases linked to the May 9 riots, while directing his counsel to complete arguments on the bail petitions.

LAHORE, Mar 13 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday extended the interim pre-arrest bail of former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry until April 16 in five cases linked to the May 9 riots, while directing his counsel to complete arguments on the bail petitions.
Duty Judge Arshad Javed heard the matter, where Fawad Chaudhry appeared after the expiry of his previous interim bail.
Following the hearing, the court extended his interim bail and sought complete arguments from his lawyer at the next hearing.
According to the prosecution, Fawad Chaudhry faces allegations of provoking party workers to engage in arson and violent protest activities during the May 9 unrest. He has secured interim bail in three cases relating to the burning of police vehicles near Jinnah House.
Fawad Chaudhry has also obtained interim bail in a case registered over the attack at Club Chowk near the GOR Gate, as well as another case involving the torching of police vehicles in Mughalpura.
