FAISALABAD, Jun 07 (APP):Divisional Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen said on Sunday that comprehensive arrangements had been finalised across Faisalabad division to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram while the administration, police, elected representatives and religious scholars joined hands to uphold the message of peace, tolerance and mutual respect during the sacred days.
She was presiding over a meeting of the divisional core management team convened on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz to review security and administrative preparations for the first ten days of Muharram-ul-Haram.
The meeting was attended by Members of National and Provincial Assemblies Raja Daniyal Ahmad, Mian Tahir Jameel, Khan Bahadur Dogar, Qudsia Batool and Taimur Amjad Lali.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Faisalabad Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir, CPO Tanveer Hussain, Additional Commissioner Coordination Tanveer Murtaza and Assistant Commissioner General Atiya Inayat also participated while deputy commissioners and district police officers from Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot joined it through video link.
A large number of religious scholars and members of peace committees including Sahibzada Zahid Mahmood Qasmi, Jafar Naqvi, Hasnain Shirazi, Allama Tahir-ul-Hassan, Ashiq Hussain Rizvi, Yasin Zafar, Syed Masood-ul-Hassan Tirmizi, Hajji Raza Shah, Khalil Ashrafi, Hajji Sikandar and Muhammad Aslam Bhalli attended the meeting in person and via video link.
Welcoming the scholars, the divisional commissioner paid tribute to their role in promoting harmony and maintaining peace throughout the division.
She said that establishment of law & order during Muharram-ul-Haram remained top priority of the administration and all four districts of the division had completed their security and administrative preparations.
Despite various challenges, she expressed confidence that the arrangements would ensure the successful and peaceful observance of Muharram.
She said that continuous coordination with religious scholars was being maintained and even minor issues were being addressed proactively to avoid any complications during the holy month.
She urged religious leaders to continue promoting tolerance, unity, patience and brotherhood in addition to encourage followers of different schools of thought to respect each other’s sentiments.
She described the ulema as valuable partners of the administration and assured them that their suggestions would always be welcomed.
The divisional commissioner emphasized strict adherence to schedules for processions and religious gatherings and directed the organizers to ensure full compliance with the prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
She said that meetings had already been held at all tiers and religious scholars had expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the administration.
She said that any emerging issue would be resolved through consultation and mutual understanding. However, the cooperation of scholars would remain essential for maintaining peace and sectarian harmony, she added.
She also announced that elected representatives would be taken on board throughout the Muharram arrangements across the division.
Responding to issues raised during the meeting, the divisional commissioner said that patchwork and repair of roads along procession routes were being completed on war-footings while uninterrupted electricity supply would also be ensured.
She added that checking of Sabeels (refreshment stalls) would be carried out and control rooms would remain operational at divisional and district headquarters to monitor situation round the clock.
During meeting, deputy commissioners briefed the participants about the arrangements while elected representatives assured full support to the administration and religious scholars reiterated their commitment to promote inter-sect harmony and unity among Muslims.
Later, special prayers were offered for lasting peace, national unity along with progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
