ANF seizes over 3,800kg of narcotics worth over Rs 560m in Kech operation

RAWALPINDI, Oct 06 (APP): The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized 3,825 kilograms of narcotics worth over Rs 560 million during a major intelligence-based operation in the Jusak area of Kech district, Balochistan, disrupting an alleged international drug trafficking network.
According to an ANF spokesperson, the operation resulted in the recovery of 2,454 kg of hashish, 1,363 kg of methamphetamine (ice) and eight kg of heroin from a compound allegedly being used as a transit storage facility for narcotics.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the drugs had been trafficked from Afghanistan into Pakistan and stored at the compound pending a signal for onward transportation abroad through sea routes.
The spokesperson said investigations were underway to identify and apprehend facilitators and dismantle the trafficking network.
The operation highlighted continued attempts by international drug trafficking networks operating from Afghanistan to use Pakistan’s geographical location and maritime routes as transit corridors for smuggling narcotics to other countries, the spokesperson said.
The ANF had shared credible intelligence with law enforcement agencies of partner countries about a month ago, resulting in the seizure of 463 kg of methamphetamine of Afghan origin from a container at Colombo Port, Sri Lanka.
The ANF subsequently arrested an Afghan national allegedly linked to the network, while further investigation exposed regional and international linkages of organised drug trafficking networks operating from Afghanistan.
The spokesperson said the latest operation reflected the broader challenge posed by transnational narcotics networks and underscored the ANF’s continued efforts to dismantle such networks.
He said counter-narcotics operations were continuing across the country, intending to contribute to a “Drug-Free Pakistan.”
