ANF arrests nine suspects, seizes over 32 kg of drugs in nationwide operations
RAWALPINDI, Jun 18 (APP): The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted nine operations across the country and arrested nine suspects, including three Nigerian nationals, and recovered 32.84 kilograms(kgs) of narcotics worth more than Rs 3 million on Thursday.
According to the ANF spokesman, near a university in Islamabad, the ANF recovered 118 grams of ice and 14 grams of cocaine from a Nigerian national and arrested him. In another operation near Kak Pul, Islamabad, 116 grams of ice and six grams of cocaine were recovered from another Nigerian national, who was also taken into custody.
In Rawalpindi, ANF recovered five grams of cocaine from a Nigerian national near Peshawar Road and arrested the suspect.
Meanwhile, near a university in Peshawar, ANF seized one kg of hashish from a motorcyclist and apprehended him.
The arrested suspects confessed during initial investigations to supplying narcotics to students of educational institutions, the spokesman said.
In operations targeting international drug trafficking, ANF recovered 1.3 kgs of ice concealed in men’s coats from a parcel destined for Qatar at a courier office in Karachi and arrested a suspect.
In a separate operation at a courier office in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, 287 grams of ice were recovered from a parcel bound for New Zealand.
Under domestic drug interdiction efforts, ANF recovered 1.2 kgs of hashish from a motorcyclist near Railway Road in Peshawar and seized six kgs of hashish from an individual near Sohrab Goth in Karachi.
In an inter-provincial operation near the Motorway Toll Plaza in Islamabad, ANF recovered 22.8 kgs of hashish from a vehicle and arrested two suspects.
Cases have been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and further investigations are underway.
