ANF arrests 10 suspects, seizes over 55 kg drugs in nationwide operations

RAWALPINDI, Jul 27 (APP): Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted eight operations across the country and arrested 10 suspects, including a woman, and recovered 55.281 kilograms(kgs) of narcotics worth more than Rs 9.2 million, an ANF spokesman said on Monday.

During an operation near Chungi No. 26 in Islamabad, ANF recovered 2.4 kg of hashish from a vehicle and arrested the suspect, who, during initial interrogation, confessed to supplying drugs to students of educational institutions.

In separate international drug interdiction operations, officials recovered one kg of heroin from the luggage of a passenger travelling to Bahrain at Faisalabad International Airport.

At Lahore International Airport, ANF recovered 25 methamphetamine (ice)-filled capsules weighing 175 grams from the abdomen of a passenger travelling to Jeddah.

At Islamabad International Airport, officials recovered 4.606 kg of methamphetamine concealed in clothing packed inside the luggage of a man and a woman travelling to Jeddah.

In Rawalpindi, ANF recovered 6.5 kg of cannabis oil soaked into visiting cards and wrapped in cloth from a parcel destined for the United Kingdom at a courier office.

At a courier office in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, officials recovered two kgs of heroin concealed in clothing from a parcel destined for the United Kingdom.

During an inter-provincial operation near the Sangjani Toll Plaza, ANF recovered 33.6 kg of hashish from two vehicles and arrested three suspects.

In another operation in a housing society in Quetta district, officials recovered five kgs of methamphetamine from a vehicle and arrested two suspects.

The spokesman said separate cases had been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, while further investigations were underway.
