AI’s responsible, ethical use vital for faculty: PU VC

Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali on Tuesday said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) had become an integral part of daily life and modern education, stressing that its responsible, ethical and effective use was essential for faculty members to keep pace with emerging educational trends.

LAHORE, Sep 01 (APP): Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali on Tuesday said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) had become an integral part of daily life and modern education, stressing that its responsible, ethical and effective use was essential for faculty members to keep pace with emerging educational trends.
He was addressing a certificate distribution ceremony held for faculty members who completed a three-day training workshop on “Ethical & Effective Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)” organized by the Punjab University Skill Development Centre (SDC).
Director SDC Prof Dr Muhammad Imtiaz Shafiq, faculty members and others were present on the occasion.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the SDC for organizing the successful and need-based training workshop for university teachers. He said the Higher Education Commission (HEC) had already incorporated AI into various academic disciplines and degree programmes, making digital competence increasingly important for educators in higher education.
Director SDC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Imtiaz Shafiq paid tribute to the Vice Chancellor for his visionary leadership, continuous patronage and keen interest in faculty development initiatives. He also briefed participants about the core objectives and outcomes of the hands-on training workshop.
The participating faculty members expressed gratitude to the university administration and SDC team for arranging the training, saying it had significantly improved their day-to-day workflow, research activities and instructional capabilities.
Later, the Vice Chancellor distributed certificates among the participating teachers.
