Agriculture minister meet FFC chief, LIMS officials to finalize Rabi fertilizer plans

RAWALPINDI, Jul 21 (APP): Minister for Agriculture Punjab, Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani and Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo visited Rawalpindi on Tuesday to finalize strategic plans for DAP fertilizer supply, digitalization and operational enhancements at Model Agri Malls, ahead of the upcoming Rabi season.

During their visit, the delegation met with Managing Director Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) Jahangir Piracha at Sona Tower, where they reviewed the local manufacturing output and import metrics of DAP fertilizer. The meeting resolved to approach the Federal Government to secure uninterrupted DAP availability across the province for the upcoming planting cycle, says a press release.

The officials also held detailed discussions with representatives of the Green Pakistan Initiative to introduce operational innovations and structural improvements at Model Agri Malls.

Highlighting service standards, Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo instructed that farmers must encounter no supply bottlenecks when procuring fertilizers and agricultural services through these hubs. He directed authorities to introduce specialized incentive packages for farmers purchasing inputs via the Model Agri Malls.

Director General Strategic Projects Major General (Retd) Shahid Nazir lauded the agricultural development initiatives launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, commending the agriculture ministry’s proactive measures for farmer welfare.

Additionally, officials from the Land Information and Management System (LIMS) briefed the leadership on a newly proposed digital application designed to accelerate tech adoption across the provincial agriculture sector.
