Academic ties between Pakistan, Bangladesh universities discussed at PU
LAHORE, May 19 (APP):A high-level delegation of senior academicians from University Grants Commission of Bangladesh led by Chairman Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed visited the Punjab University here on Tuesday.
They discussed avenues for strengthening academic cooperation and research collaboration between higher education institutions of Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The delegation met Chairman Admission Committee Prof Dr. Mehmood Saleem in the committee room of the Vice Chancellor’s office.
The 15-member delegation included senior officials and vice chancellors from leading Bangladeshi universities, including University of Rajshahi Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Faridul Islam, University of Chittagong Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Mohammad Al-Forkan, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Abdul Latif and representatives of other academic institutions.
Among those present on the occasion were PU Director External Linkages Prof Dr. Yaamina Salman, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan Project Director Saima Naurin and other officials.
During the meeting, members of the Bangladeshi delegation expressed keen interest in enhancing academic ties with Pakistani universities. They described Punjab University
as one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in the region and stressed the importance of collaborative research, academic partnerships and exchange programmes for faculty members and students.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr. Mehmood Saleem said the Punjab University warmly welcomed academic collaboration and exchange initiatives involving teachers, researchers and students. He also briefed the delegation about the university’s academic achievements, research initiatives and infrastructural development projects.
The visit aimed at promoting academic collaboration and strengthening mutual understanding between higher education institutions of Pakistan and Bangladesh. The participants noted that increased interaction between universities of the two countries would help promote academic excellence, innovation and cultural understanding.
Later, souvenirs were exchanged among the distinguished participants.
