LODHRAN, Jun 02 (APP):A total of 171 road traffic accidents were reported across the district during the Eid holidays, leaving 195 people affected.
According to the report issued by Rescue 1122, the reckless driving remained the leading cause of accidents, accounting for 106 incidents. Overspeeding was identified as the second major factor, resulting in 57 accidents during the six-day period May 26 to May 31, 2026.
Rescue officials said that one accident occurred due to a wrong turn, while three accidents were caused by U-turn. In addition four accidents were reported as a result of tyre bursts.
According to the statistics, Rescue 1122 teams provided first aid to 104 injured persons at the scene of accidents, while 89 victims were shifted to various hospitals for further medical treatment. The report also recorded two deaths on the spot.
District Emergency Officer (DEO) Rescue 1122, appealed to the citizens to strictly follow traffic rules, avoid reckless driving and maintain safe speeds while driving in order to save precious lives.
