126kg contaminated meat seized in Attock, three held

ATTOCK, Mar 30 (APP): In a swiftly executed crackdown, authorities in Attock decisively seized 126 kilograms of contaminated, unhygienic, and substandard meat during a joint operation near Khushal Garh Check Post on Monday. The raid, however, was carried out by teams from the Punjab Food Authority, highway police, and the livestock department, effectively exposing a disturbing attempt to transport unsafe food.
According to officials, the meat was being transported from Rawalpindi to Karak in a vehicle where it had been carelessly concealed on the roof under highly unsanitary conditions. Moreover, the method of transportation raised serious concerns about public health, as the meat was neither stored nor handled in a proper or regulated manner.
A veterinary doctor present at the scene thoroughly examined the seized meat and promptly declared it unfit for human consumption. Consequently, the entire stock was confiscated and destroyed on the spot to prevent any potential health hazards to the public.
Police officials subsequently took the vehicle into custody and arrested the driver, while a case was registered against three persons involved in the illegal activity. Furthermore, authorities confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway to trace the network behind this illegal and dangerous trade.
