11 Arrested, Rs250,500 Fines Imposed in Lahore Anti-Profiteering Drive

The district administration on Wednesday arrested 11 profiteers and imposed fines amounting to Rs250,500 during a citywide crackdown against overpricing, carried out through 5,918 inspections  in a single day.

LAHORE, Jul 15 (APP): The district administration on Wednesday arrested 11 profiteers and imposed fines amounting to Rs250,500 during a citywide crackdown against overpricing, carried out through 5,918 inspections
in a single day. According to the district administration spokesperson, assistant commissioners and price control magistrates, acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ejaz, remained active in the field and detected 70 violations of official price control regulations, taking legal action against those involved.
The DC directed officers to continue indiscriminate action against profiteers and hoarders while further intensifying field monitoring to ensure the availability of essential commodities at government-notified prices.
He said arbitrary increases in the prices of essential items would not be tolerated, adding that no leniency would be shown to those exploiting consumers through illegal profiteering.
DC Muhammad Ali Ejaz said he was personally monitoring the supply of essential commodities and price stability in markets to maintain a balance between supply and prices and provide maximum relief to the public.
