LAHORE, Jun 25 (APP):Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi on Thursday visited the 9th Muharram procession route from Pandu Street to Khaima-e-Sadaat and reviewed traffic management, parking and security-related arrangements for mourners, citizens and emergency vehicles.
During the visit, the CTO inspected diversion points, procession routes and alternative traffic arrangements put in place to facilitate the public during Muharram.
Speaking on the occasion, the CTO said more than 378 Majalis and 46 processions would be held across Lahore on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, including six major processions scheduled for the 9th Muharram.
The CTO said that all procession routes, parking areas and diversion points had been inspected individually and traffic deployment had been finalised accordingly.
More than 200 traffic inspectors and over 2,300 traffic wardens and personnel would perform duties across the city during Muharram, he added.
Shirazi said the central procession would begin from Nisar Haveli and pass through its traditional route before concluding at Karbala Gamay Shah. Another major procession would start from Pandu Street, proceed to Khaima-e-Sadaat and return to Pandu Street for its conclusion.
He said a third major procession would be taken out from Qasr-e-Batool in Shadman, while Zuljanah processions would also emerge from Lal Pul Nabi Pura, Model Town, Chung and Thokar Niaz Baig.
The CTO said emergency routes would remain clear at all times to ensure swift movement of ambulances and rescue vehicles in case of any unforeseen situation.
He added that citizens would be updated on traffic conditions through social media platforms and the Rasta App.
The CTO also directed traffic personnel to remain vigilant and keep a close watch on unattended objects and suspicious individuals, urging citizens to follow the traffic advisory plan and use designated alternative routes during their travel.
