Polling arrangements finalized

SIALKOT,Dec 1 (APP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalized necessary arrangements for the local bodies elections’ third phase in Sialkot district where 2011912 registered voters (846561 female voters) in tehsils Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial would cast votes in favour of their candidates.
According to official sources,1520 polling stations and 4330 polling booths would be set up for holding Zila Council, Municipal Corporation and three municipal committees (Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial municipal committees) elections of the district. As many as 724 candidates are contesting for chairman and vice chairman seats of Zila Council and 2868 candidates are contesting on general members seats in union councils in Sialkot district.
In Municipal Corporation election 97 candidates are in the run for chairman and vice chairman while 471 would contest on general seats of municipal wards of Sialkot.
It may be pointed out that over 2 lakh new voters have been included in
registered voters list of Sialkot district.
