ISLAMABAD, Jan 19 (APP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to hold election of a mayor and three deputy mayors of the federal capital in the first week of February.
The schedule of election will be issued soon, said an official of the ECP talking to this agency.
He said that already elected chairpersons from 50 union councils of federal capital along with 27 members from reserved seats would elect mayor and deputy mayors.
There would be electoral college of 77 members for this election, he added.
However, he said that all elected members of the union councils including councilors and vice chairman could contest the election for seats of a mayor and three deputy mayors, he said.
The local government act provides that the first meeting of the local government should be held not later than 30 days after the notification of elected members.
