Next Post A view of the tomb of Sultan Muqarab Khan, tomb measuring 7x7x3.5m, octagonal in shape, having its entrance to the east. It has low height dome decorated with leaf patterns. Muqarab Khan Tomb located at a small village ‘Bagh Jogian’ in the vicinity of Islamabad. Sultan Muqarab Khan (1719-1769 C.E.) was last chieftain of Gakhar tribe. He sided with Nadir Shah and took part in the battle of Karnal in 1739 C.E. As a reward for his services, he was confirmed in his possession of the fort of Pharwala. In 1765 C.E he was defeated by the Sikhs under Sardar Milka Singh at Gujrat and had to surrender the whole of his possessions up to Jhelum. Four year later in 1769 C.E., he was treacherously captured by a rival chief, Himmat Khan and put to death.
