ISLAMABAD, Mar 23 (APP):Pakistanis living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday celebrated the Pakistan Day with traditional zeal and patriotic spirit at the premises of the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and Consulate General in Dubai.
The ceremony in the embassy was inaugurated with the national flag hoisting by Ambassador Moazzam Ahmad Khan and playing of the national anthem.
Pakistan messages of the President and the Prime Minister were read out. Students from Pakistani schools sang national songs with national zeal and enthusiasm , according to a message received here from the
Congratulating the Pakistani community living in the UAE, Ambassador Moazzam said on the very day, the Muslims of the Sub-continent resolved to achieve a separate homeland in order to lead their lives with dignity, honour and freedom.
He recalled how Pakistan and the nation confronted the challenges since its inception through national resolve, resilience and commitment.
While appreciating the unity and maturity displayed by the nation during the recent unprovoked Indian aggression against the country, the ambassador reiterated the readiness of Pakistan to play its part in winning lasting peace in the region.
He thanked the friends of Pakistan, particularly the UAE which always stood by it in difficult times and contributed to its development.
He paid tribute to the UAE founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (Alarehma), who had planted the sapling of friendship along with Pakistani leadership which had now grown into a tall tree.
He said the successive meetings between the leadership of two countries in the recent months had yielded in transforming the bilateral relations into a strategic partnership.
The ambassador also appreciated the role of overseas Pakistanis in the economic development of the country. He assured the community of full support and cooperation of the embassy during their stay away from home.
Another ceremony in the UAE was held at Pakistan Consulate Dubai. The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Consul General Ahmed Amjad Ali hoisted the national flag while the national anthem was played.
The messages of the President and the Prime Minister were read out to the audience.
Speaking on the occasion, the Consul General mentioned that the Pakistani nation had witnessed many challenges and measured up to each one with resilience and resolve. In fact due to tremendous sacrifices by the valiant civil and armed forces personnel, Pakistan was an inclusive, tolerant and forward looking society, and it was as safe as any other place in the world, he added.
He said the recent three visits of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the UAE and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to Pakistan during last six months were manifestation of special affection and relations between the leadership and people of both the countries.
Both ceremonies concluded with cake-cutting.
