Hajj Flights: 3,206 more Pakistani Hujjaj arrive in Madinah

MADINAH al MUNAWWARAH, May 11(APP): The pre-Hajj flight operation continued on Saturday with different airlines operating 13 flights from six major cities, carrying 3,206 more Pakistani Hajj pilgrims to the city of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

With this, the total number of Hajj flights operated so far under the government Hajj scheme reached 28, transporting 6,690 Hujjaj to Madinah.

On Saturday, two flights each were operated from Quetta, Lahore, and Multan, while four flights were operated from Islamabad and three from Karachi.

During the first 15 days of the ongoing pre-Hajj flight operation, all flights will operate from various cities in Pakistan to Madinah until May 23. Afterwards, they will land at the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah until the completion of the pre-Hajj flight operation.

Federal Minister Amir Muqam vows to address Gilgit-Baltistan’s issues

GIlGIT, May 11 (APP): Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam addressed a press conference in Gilgit alongside former Chief Minister Hafiz Hafizur Rehman and MNA from Kohistan.
He emphasized that the issues of Gilgit-Baltistan are the federal government’s priority, saying that they will utilize their authority to promote development and prosperity in the region.
The minister mentioned that the Pakistan Muslim League (N) government has effectively resolved the wheat crisis and will allocate funds for next year’s subsidy to reduce public hardship.
He emphasized the importance of promoting tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan and announced that work on ongoing projects will be expedited, including the 40MW Hanzel Hydro-power Project to address load-shedding issues in Gilgit.
Muqam also highlighted the region’s mineral wealth and pledged efforts to harness it for development.  He assured that the federal government is committed to resolving the issues of Gilgit-Baltistan and will work tirelessly to ensure the region’s prosperity.

CM wishes for hockey team

LAHORE, May 11 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed her best wishes for the national hockey team as after a gap of 13 years, the Green Shirts are ready to play the final of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2024 on Saturday.
In a statement on Saturday, the CM said “In sha Allah, Pakistan will emerge victorious in the final against Japan. The team’s performance captured the nation’s attention, and hopes are high for a triumphant outcome.”
Maryam Nawaz Sharif exuded confidence, stating, “My unwavering faith in the team’s abilities reflects the sentiments of millions of Pakistanis who eagerly await the showdown.” She said that the entire nation stands united in prayers for the team’s success.
“Pakistanis are fervently praying for victory. The team carries the hopes and aspirations of the country, and their efforts are appreciated by fans. The players need to demonstrate teamwork.
The final is not just about individual brilliance; it’s about collective effort, communication, and strategic play. The players must synchronize their movements, support each other, and capitalize on every opportunity,” she added.

PSGMEA delegation visits PCSUMEA

SIALKOT, May 11 (APP): A Pakistan Sports Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PSGMEA) delegation visited  the Pakistan Cutlery Stainless and Utensils Manufacturing Association (PCSUMEA) to discuss the matters of mutual interest.
PSGMEA Chairman Arshad Latif Butt said that PSGMEA and PCSUMEA were different sectors but their industrial issues were the same which they could resolve by raising the voice jointly.
The PCSUMEA chairman said, “We have common issues like, labour shortage, FBR, tax refunds along with e-commerce trainings.”
PSGMEA Senior Vice Chairman Zarar Ahmed, Secretary General Mohsin Masood and others participated in the meeting.

Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam Briefed on Shahrah Nager Project

GIlGIT, May 11 (APP):Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam was briefed on the Shahrah Nager project during his visit to Gilgit-Baltistan.
Secretary Water and Power Sabtain Ahmed, informed the minister that the project’s administrative approval was granted in 2021 and it can be used as an alternative to the Karakoram Highway(KKH).
The project will cost approximately Rs 4.5 billion and is expected to be completed within three years.
The minister was told that the project’s completion will not only facilitate travel for the people of Nager District but also promote tourism.
The Federal Minister assured that he would remove any obstacles hindering the project’s completion and ensure the timely release of funds.

DPM Dar grieved over loss of lives, property in Afghanistan flash floods

ISLAMABAD, May 11 (APP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and property in Afghanistan due to heavy rains and flash floods.

“Deeply saddened by the loss of lives and damage caused by heavy rains and flash floods in several provinces of Afghanistan,” Ishaq Dar wrote on his X timeline.

He said the government and people of Pakistan extend their condolences to the families of the victims and those affected. “Our prayers for the early recovery of those missing.”
