Effective crisis management requires transparent communication, says Arshad Munir

ISLAMABAD, Jun 11 (APP):Timely, transparent communication is crucial in mitigating crises, enabling strategists to quickly resolve emergencies,” said Arshad Munir, Executive Director General of the Information Service Academy.
Speaking at a one-day training session on ‘Communication Crisis’ held on Tuesday by the Information Service Academy in collaboration with MarCom (a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK), he said that this training would generally benefit their professional development and enhance the capacity of M/o I&B’s officers to handle crisis situations effectively, ensuring that accurate information is disseminated to the public in a timely and efficient manner.
The seminar referred to the technologies, systems, and protocols that enable an organization to communicate effectively during a major threat to its reputation.
The objective of the seminar was to equip our officers with the skills and knowledge required to manage communication effectively during crises.
Muhammad Shahzad, Director General of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, emphasized the importance of Public Relations Officers (PROs) using strategic empathy and compassion in communication to humanize the organization and ensure accurate news.
He cautioned against relying on guesswork or assumptions during crises, stressing the need for accurate information verification.
Crisis communication specialists must make swift decisions. He emphasized the importance of responding promptly and effectively in unstable situations while ensuring information confidentiality.
Serious measures should be implemented against employees who share information and data with external parties, as such actions are deemed highly unprofessional, unethical, and detrimental to the organization’s reputation.
He further emphasized that the Public Relations Officer (PRO) should recognize the crisis’s impact on affected individuals and tailor communications accordingly.
Sardar Zaheer, MarCom (a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing), highlighted the significance of crisis communication policies, emphasizing the necessity for structured frameworks to navigate crises effectively and deliver accurate, timely information to the media.
Sajid Gondal, Director of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, stressed the importance of promoting effective workplace communication during emergency situations. He emphasized that employees should have convenient access to their superiors’ offices to discuss critical issues and collaborate on finding mutually acceptable solutions. Additionally, information should seamlessly flow across all departments in the desired format.

Commissioner directs authorities not to allow anyone to set up illegal cattle markets

RAWALPINDI, Jun 11 (APP):Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Engineer Aamir Khattak here on Tuesday directed the authorities concerned not to allow anyone to set up illegal cattle markets.
Chairing a Divisional Coordination Committee meeting held here, he said that special attention should be given to Standard Operating Procedures and inspection of the cattle markets.
The commissioner directed the deputy commissioners to send assistant commissioners to the cattle markets on a daily basis and and resolve complaints of the citizens urgently.
He further instructed the authorities that there should be no traffic jam problem due to cattle markets in any area.
Strict action would be taken against the administrative officers concerned in case of illegal cattle markets near residential areas, he warned.
He asked the deputy commissioners to impose Section-144 and take legal action against the violators, and directed  the price magistrates to control profiteering particularly on food items on this sacred occasion.
All-out efforts should be made to ensure availability of Naan and Roti at fixed rates, he added.
As many as 39 violations were reported in 812 raids conducted during last 24 hours, the meeting was briefed and informed that fines amounting to Rs 132,500 were imposed on the violators while three shopkeepers were arrested on overcharging complaints.
Under ‘Suthra’ Punjab program, zero waste was ensured in 389 union councils out of the total 570 across Rawalpindi division during last 24 hours.
Out of 62 sanitation complaints received, 53 were resolved, the officers concerned said adding, seven complaints were received in last 24 hours regarding manholes which were addressed.
28 complaints of street lights were received which were resolved promptly, the meeting was informed.

DG RDA briefs officers of 37th PSMG course

RAWALPINDI, Jun 11 (APP):The participants of the 37th Public Sector Management Governance (PSMG) course for the promotion of the officers from BPS-17 to BPS-18 here on Tuesday visited Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).
According to RDA spokesperson, the Director General (DG) RDA, Kinza Murtaza, along with Additional DG, Awais Munzoor Tarar, briefed the course officers on the administrative affairs of the RDA. The briefing was arranged aimed to equip the officers with insights that would be beneficial in their professional development.
During the visit, Additional DG RDA provided an overview of RDA’s inception and ongoing projects, including the Ring Road Project, Nullah Lai Expressway project, and initiatives such as the Business Facilitation Center, Estate Management Information System, Regional Development Plan of Rawalpindi, and the E-Filing & Office Automation System (E-FOAS).
Kinza Murtaza on the occasion emphasized the value of such courses for the government officials, advocating for participation from the officers of other administrative departments to enhance public service delivery.
At the conclusion session, the DG expressed her gratitude to all the participants and urged them to work hard for the development of the country.

Advisor condoles over demise of Bakhtzada’s mother, Mirwali and Taskin Zafar

PESHAWAR, Jun 11 (APP):Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tourism and Culture Zahid Chanzeb has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of senior journalist Bakhtzada Yousafzai’s mother.
In a condolence message on Tuesday, Zahid Chanzeb also expressed grief and sorrow over the death of Chitral’s folk artist Mirwali alias Kora Master and PTV and Radio Pakistan’s prominent announcer Taskin Zafar.
He paid tribute to the services of these artists and admitted that both of the artists were in fact national assets whose services will be remembered by their fans for a long time.
The Tourism Advisor prayed for eternal peace to their souls and expressed his heartfelt sympathy with members of their bereaved families.

Gold rates increase by Rs.1,900 to Rs.241,300 per tola

ISLAMABAD, Jun 11 (APP): The price of per tola of 24 karat gold increased by Rs.1,900 and was sold at Rs.241,300 on Tuesday against its sale at Rs Rs.239,400 on last trading day.

The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also increase by Rs 1,629 to Rs.206,876 from Rs.205,247 whereas that of 10 gram 22 karat gold went up to Rs.189,639 from Rs.188,143, the All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.

Per tola and ten gram silver remained stagnant at Rs.2,750 and Rs.2,357.68 respectively.

The price of gold in the international market increased by $15 to $2,307 from $2,292, the Association reported.

Girl drowns in canal

FAISALABAD, Jun 11 (APP):A girl drowned in a canal near Mamon Kanjan here on Tuesday. 
A Rescue 1122 spokesman said that 5-year-old Eman Fatima was playing on the bank of a canal when she accidentally slipped and fell into the water. 
Receiving information, divers of Rescue 1122 rushed to the spot and fished out her body. The body was handed over to her relatives for burial after completing formalities, he added.

87 copy cases reported in HSC Part-I exam

HYDERABAD, Jun 11 (APP):The vigilance teams of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education(BISE) on Tuesday visited different exam centres in Hyderabad, Badin and Tando Mohd Khan and caught 87 students while cheating in the chemistry l of HSC part-I annual examinations.
According to daily progress report shared by the Controller of examination out of 87 copy cases 70 were reported in Hyderabad City and 17 were in Jamshoro.                                                

Three die in separate incidents in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jun 11 (APP):Three people were killed in separate incidents took place in different localities of the district during last 24 hours.
According to details, 25-year-old Shahzeb s/o Inayat Ullah, r/o Syedabad reported Shaheed Nawab Police that he along with his 27-year-old brother Suleman, 34-year-old Atta Ullah s/o Fazil Khan, Rehan s/o Asjad Jan and other friends were returning from a wedding ceremony when their opponents namely Naqeeb Ullah s/o Misal Khan, Imran, Munir s/o Abdul Ghani, Imran s/o Jani and Faseeh Uddin s/o Kutb Uddin armed with Kalashnikov opened indiscriminate firing at them. As a result, Suleman, Atta Ullah and Rehan got injured and the assailants escaped from the scene. When the injured were being shifted to hospital, he said, Suleman and Atta Ullah succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital.
He informed the police that they had dispute with Naqeeb Ullah and others over a truck.
In another incident, Ramzan Ustrana s/o Malik Khaliq Dad reported Khoi-Bhara police station that he along with his 39-year-old brother Juma Khan and a relative named Jalat Khan s/o Haji Baran were going to their homes on Motorcycles. On the way, their opponents named Hashim s/o Momand, Suleman s/o Momand, Inam Ullah s/o Syed Noor and Ramzan s/o Khuda-e-Rehm armed with Kalashnikovs and repeater opened fire at his brother. As a result, his brother Juma Khan died on the spot and the assailants escaped from the scene.
He informed the police that they had old enmity with assailants and but resolved the dispute through dialogue. However, the opponents had grudge despite the resolution of dispute.
