KARACHI, Jun 02 (APP): The Pakistan Meteorological Department on Sunday predicted light rain in Karachi and other coastal areas of the Sindh province during the next 24 hours.
However, mainly very hot weather is predicted for most parts of the province. Hot and humid in coastal areas as well as gusty winds in upper districts during the period.
Mainly, very hot weather is likely to prevail in the province.

Sindh govt to promote use of electrical vehicles for reducing pollution: Dharejo

KARACHI, Jun 02 (APP): Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce Jam Ikramullah Dharejo and Secretary Industries and Commerce Muhammad Yasin Shar Baloch said that the Sindh government would promote the use of electrical vehicles for reducing environmental pollution.

During his visit to Yousuf Dewan Companies here Sunday, he held a meeting with Chairman of the group, Dewan Muhammad Yousuf Farooqui, Group CEO Automotive Dr. Usman Hayat and others. The meeting focused on the revival of the national economy, its impact on the automotive industry and the launch of electrical vehicles in Pakistan.
The provincial minister discussed various aspects of industrial development with Dewan Muhammad Yousuf Farooqui, including infrastructure, workforce and market competitiveness.

They explored ways to stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities and enhance the industry’s contribution to the national economy.

Jam Ikramullah Dharejo emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting industrial growth and development, highlighting initiatives to improve the business environment, facilitate investment and promote innovation.

He also viewed the Dewan KIA Shehzore LCV truck, a locally manufactured vehicle by Dewan Muhammad Farooque Motors Limited at their state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Dewan City, District Thatta, demonstrating the capabilities of Pakistan’s automotive industry.

He appreciated the industry’s resilience and potential for growth. The meeting also discussed the launch of electrical vehicles, including the Honeri VE fully electric car in Pakistan, a significant step towards a sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation sector.

The minister expressed government’s support for this initiative, highlighting its potential to reduce carbon emissions and promote eco-friendly transportation.

The Governor condoled with members of the bereaved family and prayed for his his soul in eternal peace.

The services of Mumtaz Alj Shah in the field of Pashto drama will always be remembered, the Governor said.

He said late Mumtaz Ali Shah also known as Bacha Ghee was famous artist with great skills in Pashto language dramas at PTV and Radio Pakistan.

Punjab launches anti-Polio campaign targeting 6.4 million children

ISLAMABAD, Jun 2 (APP): Head of the anti-polio program in Punjab, Khizr Afzal said on Sunday that preparations for the anti-polio campaign have been completed, with the campaign set to commence on Monday.
According to a private news channel, the anti-polio campaign will be organised in six districts including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Mianwali, and Okara.
Khizr Afzal said that the campaign aims to vaccinate 6.4 million children across the province. The campaign will last seven days in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad.
He said that in the other districts the campaign will run for five days. He further stated that over 40,000 polio workers will participate in the campaign, with more than 14,000 polio workers active in Lahore alone.
He said that the extensive participation underscores the commitment to eradicating polio from the region. He highlighted the urgency of the campaign by noting that the polio virus has been detected in environmental samples in Punjab.
The summer season poses a significant risk as it creates favourable conditions for the spread of the virus, he said adding that increased traffic during the summer and Eid holidays further heightens the risk of transmission.

LAHORE, Jun 02 (APP): Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP), Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, has emphasized initiatives for youth empowerment, highlighting the significance of upcoming budget allocations in fostering public hopes.
Addressing a ceremony at Aiwan-e-Iqbal here on Sunday, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan expressed his vision to propel Pakistan’s IT industry to a $25 billion market.
He highlighted the current IT industry’s value at $2.5 billion and, following Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s vision, aims to increase it tenfold. The address also touched upon the importance of providing ample opportunities for the youth in the IT sector and recognizing sports as an industry to foster growth and development.
He underscored the need for providing ample opportunities for youth advancement in the IT sector. He hailed Arif Karim as a beacon of progress in the IT field, projecting his vision to guide Pakistan’s youth towards IT sector prosperity. He shared his experience in Bangladesh, where institutions and tournaments are named after Arfa Karim, showcasing her lasting impact.
Rana Mashhood also discussed the challenges posed by IMF conditions but reassured that the government’s focus remains on securing a better future for the youth. He mentioned the establishment of 250 e-employment centers across the country under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program and the completion of IT complexes in Islamabad, with plans underway in Karachi.
In response to questions, he assured that the upcoming budget would reveal extensive programs to promote sports nationwide. The Prime Minister’s Youth Loan Program is set to increase from Rs80 billion to Rs100 billion, reflecting the government’s dedication to empowering the youth and preparing for the 2028 Olympics. He announced plans for 23 sporting events under the Youth Program, aiming to prepare for the 2028 Olympics and enhance sports infrastructure nationwide.
He concluded with a call for merit-based operations within the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and a commitment to bid farewell to the IMF program after its second phase, aiming for a prosperous future for Pakistan.

Three outlaws held; illegal arms, stolen bike recovered

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jun 02 (APP):The district police have arrested three outlaws recovering illegal arms and a stolen motorcycle from their possession in different actions taken during ongoing crackdown against anti-social elements across the district on Sunday.
According to a police spokesman, the indiscriminate actions were continued against criminal elements across the district following the directions of District Police Officer (DPO) Nasir Mehmood.
As part of such actions, a team of Dera Town police Station led by acting SHO Gulsher Khan arrested two accused named Iqbal Khan son of Muhammad Saeed and Muhammad Yasin son of Muhammad Bakhsh. The police also recovered a 12-bore repeater along with 9 cartridges and a Kalashnikov along with 10 cartridges. The police registered separate cases against the arrested accused.
Meanwhile, a team of Bandkorai police station led by SDPO Paharpur Circle Syed Sagheer Abbas Gilani along with SHO Safdar Khan traced a theft case and arrested accused Hidayat Ullah son of Obaid Ullah recovering a stolen bike bearing number (MNT-5759). The aforesaid motorcycle was stolen from the jurisdiction of Shaheed Nawab Khan police station.

Four absconders involved in heinous crime held

ISLAMABAD, Jun 02 (APP): Islamabad Police have arrested four absconders and proclaimed offenders who were allegedly involved in heinous crime during the last 24 hours.
A public relations officer on Sunday said that following the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the special tasks were assigned to all senior police officials to ensure the arrest of proclaimed offenders and absconders involved in heinous crimes.
During the crackdown, the Islamabad police teams have arrested four absconders and proclaimed offenders involved in heinous crimes during the last 24 hours.
DIG Operations Syed Ali Raza said that the Islamabad Capital Police is taking all possible steps to eradicate the crime from the city and those involved in heinous crimes and illegal activities will be dealt with iron hands. The safety of the lives and property of the citizens is the foremost priority of Islamabad Capital Police, he added.

Punjab Govt to offer ‘No Profit No Loss Services’ at animal sale points

ISLAMABAD, Jun 2 (APP):Minister for Local Government and Community Development ( LG&CD), Zeeshan Rafique said on Sunday that the Punjab government has decided to provide services at animal sale points under a ‘no profit no loss’ policy.
He said, “This initiative aims to offer traders and citizens all possible facilities at these points, particularly in preparation for Eid al-Adha,”
According to a private news channel, he said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered that cleaning arrangements for Eid al-Adha be completed ahead of time. All chief officers have been directed to ensure the implementation of this decision to maintain proper sanitation and order at the animal markets, he added.
Additionally, he said that a control room will be established in the office of the Secretary of Local Government to monitor the sanitation arrangements. The minister ensured a clean and organized environment for traders and buyers during the festive period.

Over 11000 people riding on green bus daily in Quetta

QUETTA, Jun 2 (APP): Over 11,000 people travel daily in eight buses of ‘Quetta Green Bus Service’ being run from Balochistan University to Baleli.
Commissioner Quetta Division, Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat while talking to APP said that the state-owned public bus transport project in Quetta has become fully successful as over 11,000 people ride daily from Baleli to Sariab Road route.
He said that around 25 more buses would be added soon to the project as a total of 100 green buses would be on roads in Quetta after some time. He added that efforts would be taken to expand the green bus service to other routes to facilitate maximum numbers of Quetta dwellers.
Hamza Shafqaat said after the inclusion of 25 more buses, the daily capacity will increase to facilitate 50,000 commuters. He said that green buses operate from 7 am to 10 pm. He said that safe travel in a pleasant environment is the right of the citizens and feels glad that our female segment can now travel with satisfaction.
The green bus service has made it easier for people of all age groups especially, women, students and senior citizens, to reach work timely with the provision of convenient travel facilities. Residents of Quetta praised the Balochistan government’s project of state-run ‘Green Bus Service’ to provide a decent transportation facility which would also reduce huge traffic congestion in the city.
Talking to APP, Aziz Ullah Nasar said that Quetta city was in dire need of public transport facilities as most of the roads cannot sustain the pressure of traffic, leading to congestion and environmental problems. “Traffic jam is a big issue in Quetta where people waste hours due to rush in the morning, afternoon, and evening on the roads”, he added.
