3 retired officers, Lt Gen (R) Faiz under military custody for FGCM proceedings : ISPR

RAWALPINDI, Aug 15 (APP): In connection with the Field General Court Martial (FGCM) proceedings of Lt General (R) Faiz Hameed, three retired officers were also in military custody for their actions prejudicial to military discipline.

Further investigations of certain retired officers and their accomplices for fomenting instability at the behest of and in collusion with vested political interests, are continuing, an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) news release said on Thursday.

Danyal Ijaz lifts 6th  ITBA Independence Tenpin Bowling Cup

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15 (APP):Danyal Ijaz won 6th ITBA Independence Tenpin Bowling Cup at Leisure City Jinnah Park, Rawalpindi on Thursday.
Danyal Ijaz exhibited standout performance to finish at the too with 370 points, whereas Waqas Parekh ended second with 330 points.
Rana Shehzad secured third position.
Bowlers from Islamabad took part in the tournament.
General Secretary, Islamabad Tenpin Bowling Association Saleem Baig, who was the chief guest gave away the prizes to the players.

Woman allegedly tortured to death minor son

WAH CANTT,  Aug 15 (APP):A stepmother allegedly tortured to death her stepson in the jurisdiction of Wah Saddar Police Station, the Police sources said on Thursday.
They said that a woman named Seemyia Bibi had allegedly tortured to death her two-year-old stepson Saim Ali.
 The police shifted the body to the tehsil headquarters hospital Taxila for legal formalities.
The police registered a case and launched further investigation.

DIG chairs meeting regarding law and order

SSP, Naseerabad. Fahad Khan Khoso, SSP, Jafarabad , Captain (R) Atta Ur Rehman, SP, Usta Muhammed, Muhammad Anwar Badyani, SP Sohbatpur, Muhammed Yusuf Bhanger and other officials attended the meeting.

SP, Bolan, Captain ( R), Dost Muhammed Bugti and SP Jhal Magsi, Subhan Ali Magsi participated in the meeting through video.

16 dead, 2126 injured in Punjab road accidents

LAHORE, Aug 15 (APP):At least 16 people were killed while 2126 others injured in 1898 road accidents
in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
Of whom, 932 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals,
while 1194 victims with minor injuries were treated on the spot by Rescue
Medical Teams.
Analysis show those 1115 drivers, 162 underage drivers, 235 pedestrians,
and 792 passengers were among the victims of road accidents.
Statistics show that 426 road accidents were reported in Lahore which
affected 519 people placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed
by Faisalabad 134 in with 132 victims and at third Multan with 125 road accidents
and 138 victims.
According to the data, 1873 motorbikes, 62 auto-rickshaws, 160 motorcars, 19 vans,
10 buses, 28 trucks and 186 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts
were involved in road accidents.

Two persons of gang arrested, 2 motorcycles recovered

CHICHAWATNI, Aug 15 (APP):The police on Thursday nabbed two persons of a bike lifter gang and recovered 2 motorcycles from their possession.

The police spokesman said that the arrested persons had confessed to lift many motorcycles in the area.

The police teams had been formed to arrest other persons of the gang, he added.

The police registered cases against them and started investigation.

 

Murree’s pleasant weather attracts thousands tourists to celebrate Independence Day

RAWALPINDI, Aug 15 (APP):On the occasion of Independence Day, a large number of tourists visited Malka-e-Kohsar Murree in a stunning and pleasant weather.
The entrance of more than 25000 vehicles was recorded in Murree on 14th August, giving the city a festive environment.

According to the details, the City Traffic Officer (CTO), Beenish Fatima has lauded the officers and officials for performing their duties round the clock.
She also made her presence in Murree and directly reviewed the traffic arrangements so that the tourists traveling to and from Murree on the occasion of Independence Day should not face any kind of difficulties.

The CTO said that the traffic police managed the traffic despite the paucity of parking under the limited resources.

“They ensured the uninterrupted flow of traffic and performed their duties in the best way while helping the tourists”, she said while appreciating the traffic personnel services.
The tourists also appreciated the traffic management.

Gold rates dip by Rs.300 to Rs257,400 per tola

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15 (APP): The per tola price of 24 karat gold witnessed a decrease of Rs.300 on Thursday and was traded at Rs 257,400 against it sale at 257,700 on the last trading day in the local market.

The price of 10 grams of 24 karat also decreased by Rs256 to Rs.220,680 from Rs.220,936, whereas that of 10 gram 22 karat decreased to Rs202,290 from Rs202,525, All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.

The price of per tola and ten gram silver remained unchanged at Rs.2,850 and Rs.2,443.41 respectively.

Prices of gold in the international market decreased by $4 to $2,454 as compared to the previous day rates of $2,458, the Association reported.

KP CM inaugurates solar scheme design, online application

PESHAWAR, Aug 15 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur here Thursday inaugurated model design of solar scheme and online application.

The Chief Minister announced to increase number of poor beneficiaries families from one lakh to 130,000, says a statement.

The Chief Minister announced to give solar system to separate 30,000 poor families of merged tribal districts.

Preference would be given to areas with high line losses feeders and hot regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The solar system would be given under a package including solar panels, wiring and panel stands

Rescue activities in full swing in flood-hit areas

DG KHAN, Aug 15 (APP):Rescue and relief activities were in full swing by PDMA Punjab in flood-hit areas of Mianwali, Layyah Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.
According to PDMA spokesperson, about 34 places of Mianwali, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur have been hit by flood where 24 boats and 78 rescue workers are engaged in rescue activities.
A total of 36 relief camps are set up  in the flooded areas, it was said.
Uptill now, 930 people were shifted to safe places, added the spokesman.
Around 1572 people were provided treatment in 33 medical campuses set-up in the different affected areas.
About 757 number of cattle were moved to safe locations  while 42714 animals were vaccinated.
There was no loss of life or property reported due to timely response of PDMA and administration.
Flood situation is feared to continue in the Indus River for the next few days, it was said.
