Jam Kamal, German Minister Svenja Schulze forge stronger economic ties
ISLAMABAD, Aug 21 (APP): Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan on Wednesday met with Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Svenja Schulze, in Islamabad to bolster economic and trade relations between the two nations.
The meeting focused on advancing economic collaboration, with a particular emphasis on sustainable business practices and labor standards, said a press release issued here.
Minister Jam Kamal lauded Germany’s leadership in promoting sustainability through initiatives like the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act.
He highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to improve labor standards and environmental sustainability in its textile industry, and he sought German support for capacity-building and technical assistance to help Pakistani SMEs comply with these new regulations.
Minister Schulze responded by highlighting the long-standing historical relationship between Germany and Pakistan, which has spanned many decades.
She noted that many German companies are operating successfully in Pakistan, particularly in the textile sector, and praised the robust business ties between the two countries.
Minister Schulze also emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment across all sectors, a priority she shared with Minister Jam Kamal.
While acknowledging cultural and regional challenges, Jam Kamal reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to gradually enhancing women’s roles, particularly through initiatives like the Female Exclusive Training Institute (FETI) in Faisalabad. He urged Germany to continue its support for these efforts and other initiatives which could benefit.
The ministers also discussed the potential for increased collaboration between their respective business communities.
The discussion highlighted the National Compliance Center (NCC), an initiative led by the Ministry of Commerce to promote labor compliance and social responsibility in Pakistan. The center, the first of its kind in the country, aims to improve labor, social, and environmental standards, making Pakistani businesses more competitive and sustainable. The NCC will address industry concerns through a cluster approach, focusing on areas such as human rights, climate change, labor rights, traceability, and quality assurance.
Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation in trade and investment.

Gold rates up by Rs.300 per tola to Rs.261,000
ISLAMABAD, Aug 21 (APP):The per tola price of 24 karat gold increased by Rs.300 and was sold at Rs.261,000 on Wednesday compared to its sale at Rs. 260,700 on last trading day.
The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also increased by Rs.257 to Rs. 223,765 from Rs. 223,508 whereas the prices of 10 gram 22 karat gold went up to Rs.205,118 from Rs.204,882, the All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.
The price of per tola and ten gram silver remained unchanged at Rs.2,950 and Rs.2,529.14, respectively.
The price of gold in the international market remained unchanged at $2,512, the Association reported.

MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 21 (APP):The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) is proud to honor one of the brightest young talents from the region, Tayyaba Saghir, who recently achieved remarkable success in the Intermediate Exams.
Tayyaba, hailing from Jehlum Valley, secured an impressive 1154 out of 1200 marks, earning her the top position in the exams.
In recognition of her extraordinary academic performance, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi invited Tayyaba and her father and brother to his office on Wednesday. During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Abbasi expressed his admiration for Tayyaba’s hard work, dedication, and perseverance, noting that her success is a shining example of how determination and effort can overcome any obstacle.

ECP reminds political parties to submit consolidated statements of accounts for FY 2023-24
ISLAMABAD, Aug 21 (APP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has reminded all the heads of political parties to submit consolidated statements of accounts (Form-D) for Financial Year 2023-24 on or before August 29.
In terms of section 210 of the Elections Act, 2017 read with section 204 of the Act ibid and rule 159 & 160 of the Election Rules, 2017, thereof, that the political parties are required to file with Election Commission their Consolidated Statement of Accounts on (Form-D) for financial year, 2023-24 ended on 30th June, 2024 on or before 29th August, 2024, said a press release issued here on Wednesday.
It may be recalled that Section 210 of the Elections Act, 2017 provides that a Political Party shall, in such a manner as may be prescribed, submit to the Commission, within sixty days from the close of a financial year, a consolidated statement of its accounts audited by a Chartered Accountant on Form-D containing: annual income and expenses, sources of its funds; and assets and liabilities.
The Consolidated Statement of Accounts to be submitted to the Election Commission complete in all respect and shall accompany by report of a Chartered Accountant with regard to the audit of accounts of a political party and a certificate signed by an office-bearer authorized by the party Head stating that:
i. No funds were received by the party from any source prohibited under the Elections Act, 2017.
ii. The statement of accounts contains an accurate picture of the financial position of the party.
iii. The information given above is correct to the best of my knowledge and belief.
iv. The above statement is audited by the Chartered Accountant and detailed report thereof is annexed.
The statement of accounts is to be submitted on Form-D as provided in the Elections Act, 2017. Printed Forms are available, free of cost, in the Election Commission Secretariat, Islamabad and in the offices of the Provincial Election Commissioners, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Form-D / Proforma for source of funds are also available on ECP’s Website.
Overwriting should be avoided. The attested copy of Membership / Certificate issued by ICAP in respect of Auditor engaged shall be annexed to the Form-D alongwith last valid renewal certificate.
The Form-D shall also accompany a legible copy of each of the bank statements for the period of 01.07.2023 to 30.06.2024 of the party, alongwith a bank reconciliation statement.
The subject statement shall be addressed to the Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan, Constitution Avenue, G-5/2, and Islamabad and shall be delivered through an office bearer of the party, duly authorized by the party head in terms of rule 156 of the Election Rules, 2017. Statements received through post, fax, courier service or any other mode shall not be accepted.
