PM directs federal ministries, deptt heads to utilize Task Management System

ISLAMABAD, Jun 13 (APP):Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Thursday instructed federal secretaries and heads of departments to personally utilize the Task Management System.
He issued these instructions while chairing a meeting to assess the implementation progress of directives requiring federal ministries and departments to use the Task Management System.
The Task Management System is a modern software of international standards used to monitor instructions issued by the prime minister to federal ministries, and progress in this regard.
The prime minister also decided to conduct daily review for implementing  the task management system. He said that continuous monitoring of progress in all projects was the initial step towards their timely completion.
During the briefing, it was told that a mobile application for the task management system had already been developed.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Petroleum Dr. Musaddik Masood Malik, Minister of State for IT, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, and senior officials from relevant institutions.

Five people injured in traffic accident in Mansehra

ISLAMABAD, Jun 13 (APP): Five people including 2 women were injured in a traffic accident near Kotkay Bridge in Mansehra on Thursday, private news channel and Rescue 1122 official reported.

According to details, the ambulance and medical team of Rescue 1122 immediately reached the accident site after receiving the information.

The accident occurred due to brake failure of the vehicle, as a result of which 30 year old Imtiaz, 25 year old Salim, 10 year old Umar and 2 women were injured.

The rescue medical team provided the first aid to the injured immediately and shifted them to King Abdullah Hospital Mansehra.

Rs. 5,446b tax-free budget 2024-25 presented in Punjab Assembly

LAHORE, Jun 13 (APP):Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman presented the Punjab budget for financial year (FY) 2024-25 with a total outlay of Rs 5,446 billion including Rs. 842 billion for development programmes, in the Punjab Assembly session, held here on Thursday.
The minister said the government had allocated a total of Rs 842 billion for development programme, which is 28 per cent higher than the outgoing FY 2023-24’s budgetary allocation of Rs 655 billion. Out of the development budget, he elaborated, 33 per cent would be spent on social sector, 29pc on infrastructure, 13pc on production sector, and 5pc on services sector, while 20pc would go to special programmes/initiatives.
Giving break-up of the budget in his speech at the Punjab Assembly, the finance minister said that the total revenue collection was estimated at Rs 4643.40 billion, adding that under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, Punjab will receive Rs 3,683.10 billion from the federal divisible pool, while provincial receipts (own resource revenue) are estimated at Rs 960.30 billion (54 per cent higher than the current fiscal year) for financial year 2024-25. He mentioned that Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has been given revenue collection target of Rs 300 billion (25 percent high than FY2023-24), Board of Revenue Rs 105 billion (six per cent higher), and Excise Department Rs 57 billion (25pc higher), while under the head of non-tax revenue, Rs 488.40 billion collection is estimated which is 111pc higher than the FY 2023-24.
Terming the provincial budget tax-free, progressive and pro-business in the given circumstances, Mian Mujtaba said that during the financial year 2024-25, Rs 603.1 billion would be spent on salaries, Rs 451.40 billion on pension and Rs 857.40 allocated for local governments.

IUB improves Times Higher Education impact ranking

BAHAWALPUR, Jun 13 (APP):The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) is continuously advancing in the global ranking by making significant progress in the 2024 Times Higher Education University Impact Ranking.
According to a release issued by the University’s spokesman Shahzad Ahmad Khalid, the IUB is gradually improving teaching and research with a focus on sustainable development goals. As many as 2,152 universities from 125 countries participated in the 2024 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings edition. The IUB ranked between 1001-1500 overall, while ranking 201-300 for SDGs 1, scored 301-400 for SDGs 2, and 401-600 for SDGs 4/6/7/8/10/11/12/13/14/15.
Times Higher Education methodology integrates scores across multiple SDGs to reflect overall performance and impact. Emphasizing the interconnectedness of all the SDGs, Islamia University of Bahawalpur particularly SDGs 4 on quality education, SDGs 7 on affordable and clean energy, SDGs on poverty eradication and SDGs 17 on sustainable development goals excellent performance in acquisition. The positive progress in the Times Higher Education Commission University Impact Ranking indicates the university’s ongoing teaching and research and its continued focus on the SDGs, which reinforces Pakistan’s presence in the global sustainable development arena.

District Development Committee reviews progress of ongoing schemes

BAHAWALPUR, Jun 13 (APP):A meeting of the District Development Committee was held in the committee room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Zaheer Anwar Jappa.
The meeting reviewed the ongoing development schemes in the district. Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance Farooq Qamar, Deputy Director Development Faisal Shahzad, and Buildings Department officials were present.
Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Anwar Jappa said that ongoing development schemes should be completed to a high standard within the stipulated time frame.
He emphasized the importance of on-site monitoring of development schemes by relevant officers and stressed the need to pay special attention to the quality of materials used.
Deputy Director of Development Faisal Shahzad informed the meeting that there are 200 development schemes of various departments across the district under the Annual Development Program, with an estimated cost of 78 billion rupees.
He stated that over 26 billion rupees have been spent until June 2023. He further highlighted that over 9.3 billion rupees have been allocated under the Annual Development Program 2023-24, out of which more than 8 billion rupees have been released and over 6.8 billion rupees have been utilized so far.

Punjab govt allocates Rs 47.48 bln for justice administration

LAHORE, Jun 13 (APP):The Punjab government has allocated Rs 47.48 billion for the administration of justice in the 2024-25 budget, announced here on Thursday.
According to budget documents, Rs 10.33 billion is the estimated budget for the Lahore High Court, whereas Rs 37.15 billion has been reserved for the  lower judiciary, including sessions courts, civil courts, special courts, courts  of small causes, labour courts, the Punjab Appellate Tribunal-II Multan, the  Punjab Appellate Tribunal Lahore, attorneys/legal services including the advocate  general’s office, the solicitor department, the Mufassil Establishment, and the Punjab Judicial Academy.
The budget amount will be spent on the pay and allowances of the employees,  operating expenses, employees’ retirement benefits, physical assets, and maintenance. It is pertinent to mention here that the government has reserved almost 9.41 percent  more than the amount allocated in the 2023-24 budget for the administration of justice. In the 2023-24 budget, the government had allocated Rs 43.4 billion for justice administration.
