05 members dacoit gang involved in house robberies arrested
RAWALPINDI, Aug 07 (APP):In a significant operation, Police have arrested five members dacoit gang involved in house robberies, street crimes and recovered gold ornaments and stolen amount Rs 2,50,000 from their possession here Wednesday.
Police have also recovered weapon used in the crime.
According to police spokesman, Mandra police held a five-member dacoit gang involved in several cases of robbery and theft.
The gang members were identified as Zahid, Gibran, Tauqeer, Atiq and Kamran.
Police have registered separate cases against all of them and started further investigation.
SHO said that the recovery of the stolen property from the accused was done after the identification parade.
SP Saddar appreciated the performance of police team and said that the accused will be challaned to the court with solid evidence and will be punished.
Strict action will be continued against the accused who deprive the citizens of their valuable assets, he added.
Minister discusses visioning exercise to promote tourism in Punjab
LAHORE, Aug 07 (APP):The Department of Human Rights and Minorities Affairs (HR&MA), in collaboration with the World Bank, organised a visioning exercise aimed at enhancing economic growth through the promotion of tourism in Punjab.
Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora emphasised the critical role of tourism in economic development during his address to the meeting. He highlighted the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who, in her inaugural speech, declared religious minorities as the crown of her head. For the first time in history, a CM personally attended Easter celebrations in Maryamabad and initiated the Baisakhi festival by participating in the harvest.
Minister Arora expressed hope that the advisory meeting would yield fruitful results given the presence of key representatives from Punjab’s major departments. He also underscored Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s desire for a well-defined five-year strategic plan to establish a clear roadmap.
Secretary of Human Rights Ali Bahadur Qazi emphasized the significance of visioning exercise, aiming to gather valuable insights from various representatives of Punjab’s key institutions to formulate a cohesive strategy.
Lead Consultant for Strategic Planning Syed Sajjad Imran informed the participants that the collaboration with the WB underscores a commitment to globally recognising Punjab’s tourism potential and leveraging the sector for sustainable economic development. The outcomes of the exercise would assist in creating actionable plans that align with the broader goals of the HR&MA.
Additional Secretary of Human Rights Rizwana Naveed briefed the attendees about the department’s services for religious minorities and future strategies. The meeting included a SWOT analysis of the strategic plan in various groups and feedback was solicited from all participants.
The advisory meeting also included the participation of Additional Secretary Rizwana Naveed, DS Minorities, representatives from the Punjab Economic Growth Project (PTEG) such as Waqas Malik, Project Director PTEG, Director of Human Rights Muhammad Yousaf, Research Officer Shoaib Zafar, representatives from Social Welfare, Law, School Education, Higher Education, government officials, tourism experts, private sector representatives, and members of civil society.
Meeting reviews arrangements for monsoon plantation campaign
BAHAWALPUR, Aug 07 (APP):A meeting of the District Afforestation Committee was held at the DC Office’s committee room under Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Sumera Rabbani’s chairmanship to review arrangements for the Monsoon Tree Planting Campaign 2024.
The meeting was attended by President of the Chamber of Commerce Chaudhry Zulfiqar Maan, Assistant Commissioner of Bahawalpur City Dr Sana Ramchand, Assistant Commissioner of Bahawalpur Saddar Ahmed Sheer Gondal, Forest Controller Khalid Javed Bhutta, DFO Extension Shahid Hamid, DHO Dr Khalid Channar, DEO Education Muhammad Akram, along with officials from the Departments of Agriculture, Environment, Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Bahawalpur Development Authority (BDA), and other relevant departments.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters stated that evergreen and shade trees should be planted during the Monsoon Tree Planting Campaign. She emphasized the importance of planting trees to protect against environmental pollution and global warming, noting that the monsoon season was conducive to plant growth. She instructed that saplings be obtained from the Forest Department during the campaign.
Additionally, she highlighted the need for proper care and irrigation of the plants, ensuring that soil preparation is done adequately before planting and that regular watering is arranged.
She also mentioned that after planting, there should be field inspections of the plants, and a follow-up committee should be formed for this purpose.
Earlier, the Forest Controller informed the meeting about the significance and utility of the plants and briefed on the arrangements made for the monsoon tree planting throughout the district.
“Saplings are available at the Forest Department’s nurseries, and other departments should contact the Forest Department for them,” he noted.
Moreover, he informed me, “Various sales points are set up at different locations to provide saplings to the public during the Monsoon Tree Planting Campaign.”
PFA imposes heavy fines on various food points over Punjab pure food rules violations
LODHRAN, Aug 07 (APP):Punjab Food Authority (PFA) took action to prevent substandard food and imposed heavy fines on various food points over violations of Punjab pure food rules.
PFA food safety teams inspected several food points including the hospital canteen, soda water factory, and cheese units, for violations of Punjab Pure Food Rules.
Rs 20,000 fine was imposed for storing food in a contaminated place, lack of personal hygiene of food handlers, poor cleanliness arrangements in the kitchen area at 100 Chak Multan road in Lodhran.
Likewise, Rs 20,000 fine to sweets and bakers for poor pest control arrangements, accumulation of dirty water in the washing area, and non-covering of food.
Rs 12,000 fine was imposed on Qulfa and Ice Cream shop near the nursing school.
Similarly, 2 cheese units in Kadirpur Chamana were fined Rs 12,000 each for the non-labelling of finished products, accumulation of waste water in the processing area, and poor sanitation in the production area.
Apart from this, the soda water factory in Abbasiya colony was fined Rs 15,000 for pest infestation, filter change not being recorded and labelling, while the Khoya unit in Galewal was fined Rs 15,000 for not cleaning milk bottles and the presence of untraceable ingredients.
Funeral prayers for martyred ASI Nazir Ahmed held
LAHORE, Aug 07 (APP):The funeral prayers for martyred ASI Nazir Ahmed of the Organised Crime Unit were offered at Police Lines, Qila Gujjar Singh, here on Wednesday.
Home Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, IGP Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, DIG (Investigation) Zeeshan Asghar, DIG (Operations) Faisal Kamran, former DIG Zubair Nawaz Chattha, SSP (Operations) Tasawar Iqbal, and senior officers attended the funeral. ASI Nazir Ahmed, posted with the Organised Crime Unit Chung Police Station was martyred during a raid at Sultan’s village. The CCPO Lahore paid tribute to the martyred ASI by presenting a salute and laying a wreath on the grave. Prayers were offered for the soul of Nazir Ahmed and a smartly-turned-out contingent of the police presented the last salute.
ASI Nazir Ahmed hailed from Changa Manga District Kasur and was survived by a son, a daughter and his wife. CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana and others expressed their condolences to with the martyr’s family. He paid tribute to the great sacrifice of ASI Nazir Ahmed, stating that special teams have been formed to arrest the culprits. He assured that the murderers of ASI would be arrested soon and brought to justice.
He further stated that Nazir Ahmed, by sacrificing his life in the line of duty, has brought honour to the police department. The Police Department has always prioritised welfare of families of martyrs and it will ensure complete care and welfare of ASI Nazir Ahmed’s family, he concluded.
Six held for carrying illegal arms
RAWALPINDI, Aug 07 (APP):Police have arrested six illegal arms holders and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession during a crackdown.
According to police spokesman, Mandra, Gujar Khan and Civil Lines police rounded up six illegal arm holders namely Toqeer, Jabran, Kamran, Sajjad, Kashif, and Danish and recovered two 12 bore rifles, four 30 bore pistols and ammunition from their possession.
Police have registered separate cases against the accused and further investigation was in progress.
SSP Operations commended police teams and instructed to take strict action against those carrying illegal weapons.
09 drug dealers arrested during operation
RAWALPINDI, Aug 07 (APP):Police have arrested nine drug dealers and recovered more than 06 kg drugs from their possession during operation here on Wednesday.
According to police spokesman, Pirwadhai police held Ibrar and recovered 1.1 kg drugs from his possession and 520 gram of charas was confiscated from Inam.
Similarly, Westridge police during course of action nabbed Waqas and recovered 1.2 kg drugs from his custody.
While, Waris Khan police apprehended Amir and recovered 60
2 gram of charas from his possession and 580 gram of charas was also recovered from Maqsood.
Following operation, Jatali police recovered 600 gram of charas from Mujtaba.
Kalar Syedan police arrested Nauman and recovered 540 gram of charas from his possession.
Additionally, City Police held Sameer and recovered 560 gram of charas from him.
Taxila police recovered 520 gram of charas from Aamir.
Police have registered separate cases against the accused and further investigation was in progress.
City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani appreciated the performance of police teams and said that all legal requirements will be fulfilled to punish the accused, crackdown on drug dealers will be continued to end the drug scourge, he added.
