Gold rates dip by Rs. 500 per tola to Rs.255,500

ISLAMABAD, Aug 7 (APP): The per tola price of 24 karat gold decreased further by Rs.500 and was sold at Rs.255,500 on Wednesday compared to its sale at Rs. 256,000 on last trading day.

The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also decreased by Rs.429 to Rs.219,050 from Rs. 219,479 whereas the prices of 10 gram 22 karat gold went down to Rs.200,795 from Rs. 201,189, the All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.

The price of per tola and ten gram silver remained stagnant at Rs.2,850 and Rs.2,443.41 respectively.

The price of gold in the international market decreased by $17 to $2,393 from $ 2,410, the Association reported.

Woman electrocuted

FAISALABAD, Aug 07 (APP):A woman was electrocuted at her house in the area of D-Type Colony police station.
A Rescue 1122 spokesman said on Wednesday that 35-year-old Aasma Bibi
of Abdullah Colony, Sammundri Road, was trying to switch on a water pump at her
house when she received a fatal electric shock.
The body was handed over to the family after completing legal formalities, he added.

Driver dies after trailer collided with divider

LODHRAN, Aug 07 (APP):A trailer driver was crushed to death after the trailer collided with a divider near  toll plaza Qutubpur Khanewal road Lodhran here on Wednesday.
According to Rescue officials, a trailer carrying luggage was going to Lahore from Karachi. Two drivers tried to change the driving seat during the moving vehicle and suddenly the trailer collided with a divider near toll plaza Qutubpur khanewal road Lodhran.
As a result, a 35 years old driver Javed Ahmad s/o Zahoor Ahmad resident of Chak No 65/10-R.
Rescue team handed over the body to the heirs after covering with sheet.

SUKKUR, Aug 07 (APP): Spokesperson for Sindh Government and Mayor Sukkur, Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh called on to Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, at Bilawal House on Wednesday and briefed him on Sukkur’s development projects and recent rainfall drainage, highlighting the efficient completion of floodwater drainage within hours, despite 22 hours of continuous heavy rainfall.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that we have done a lot of work in Sindh, which has not been effectively showcased to the public. The Sindh Government has done exemplary work in education, health, and infrastructure. We have planted millions of mangrove trees in coastal areas, which has also been appreciated globally.
He directed that these accomplishments should be showcased through media and social media platforms, enabling people across provinces to recognize the Peoples Party’s efforts and commitments.
Bilawal stressed that the Sindh government has maintained a sharp focus on its development agenda, ensuring productive progress and growth. He directed Mayor Sukkur to maintain administrative vigilance amid anticipated rainfall from August 11, prioritizing citizen safety through resource mobilization and proactive emergency preparedness.
Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh further briefed PPP Chairman on the city’s development projects, highlighting significant achievements.
He added that h 70-year-old drainage issue in Old Sukkur has been resolved, marking a major breakthrough in the city’s infrastructure development. Additionally, all waste management stations in the city have been upgraded to modern standards. He said that Sukkur has emerged as a leading educational hub with the establishment of world-class universities, transforming the city’s educational landscape.
The city’s beautification of the city is also a priority, with a focus on creating urban forests, green belts, and tree plantation initiatives, he concluded.

PFA Sheikhupura cracks down on unhygienic food

SHEIKHUPURA, Aug 07 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in Sheikhupura is actively working to ensure the quality and safety of food supplies in the district here on Wednesday.
According to PFA Spokesperson, on the instructions from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the PFA has mobilized its teams for a district-wide inspection campaign.
In the past day, 89 food-related businesses were inspected, resulting in over Rs 135,000 in fines for violations of hygiene standards and poor sanitation.
Additionally, 52,660 liters of milk were checked and 500 liters of substandard milk, 120 grams of biscuits and 500 grams of China salt were destroyed on the spot.
Corrective notices were also issued to several food establishments.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Waqar Ali Khan emphasized the importance of providing clean food to the public, stating that the PFA is dedicated to ensuring the quality and safety of food for the people of Sheikhupura.

D.C Larkana directors departments to solve BF of employee’s cases

LARKANA, Aug 07 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Larkana Dr. Sharjeel Noor Channa on Wednesday instructed the officials of all the departments of Larkana district to clear the cases of the benevolent fund as soon as possible so that the employees and their relatives do not suffer to get financial benefits.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting on Benevolent Fund cases of employees in the Durbar Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
He directed the officials of all the departments to submit the Benevolent Fund cases as soon as possible to be resolved at earliest.  He said there should be no complaint in back log and the new cases should be investigated immediately.

UoS organizes farewell for two retired officials

According to a press release issued by UoS ,the event was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor University of Sargodha, Professor Dr. Qaisar Abbas, and was attended by Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mian Ghulam Yasin, deans of all faculties, heads of academic and administrative departments, and administrative officers.
While addressing, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated Dr. Muhammad Bashir, Controller of Examinations, and Malik Ahmad Yar, Project Director Works on completing their terms of service and acknowledged their valuable contributions to the university.
The VC highlighted that both officers were among the founding members of the university and had played a crucial role in strengthening its foundation through their leadership and professional expertise.
The ceremony concluded with the Vice-Chancellor presenting bouquets and commemorative shields to the retiring officers.

In contact with US authorities over Pakistani national allegedly involved in murder plot: FO

ISLAMABAD, Aug 7 (APP):The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday said that they were in contact with the US authorities and awaiting further details regarding the alleged involvement of a Pakistani national in connection with an assassination plot in the United States.
“We have seen the media reports. We are in touch with the US authorities and await further details. We have also noted the statements by US officials that this is an ongoing investigation,” Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said in a statement.
In response to the media queries, she also stated that before giving any formal reaction, the government also needed to be sure of the antecedents of the individual in question
