Polio-EPI Govt committed to make Pakistan polio-free: Additional DG EPI

0
ISLAMABAD, Aug 8 (APP):Additional Director General Health Services EPI, Dr. Samra Khurram said on Thursday that the authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to make Pakistan a polio-free country saying that a comprehensive review of the existing polio drive strategy is underway with experts.
In an exclusive Interview with PTV news channel, she assured that the government’s determination to end polio is evident in its proactive approach where every possible measure is being taken to enhance the efficacy of the polio vaccination campaigns.
By leveraging the expertise of researchers and stakeholders, the government aims to plug the gaps in the system and ensure that no child is left unprotected against this debilitating disease, she added.
With renewed commitment and a robust strategy, Pakistan is poised to make a decisive push towards a polio-free future, she mentioned.
Dr. Samra Khurram also expressed her deep concern over the persistence of polio cases in Pakistan, despite the government’s efforts to eradicate the disease.
“It is a tragedy that children in Pakistan continue to fall prey to a disease that can be easily prevented with a vaccine that the government brings to people’s doorsteps,” she lamented.
She emphasized that the polio vaccine is a safe and effective way to protect children from the debilitating effects of polio.   She urged parents to take responsibility for ensuring that their children receive the full course of vaccination, as prescribed by the government’s vaccination schedule.
Her appeal to parents comes at a critical time, as Pakistan continues to grapple with the challenge of polio eradication. By ensuring that their children are fully vaccinated, parents can play a vital role in protecting them from the lifelong consequences of polio, and helping Pakistan move closer to a polio-free future.
Responding a query, she mentioned the Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health in Islamabad has confirmed the detection of WPV1 in a child from Miani UC of Chakwal.
The affected child showed symptoms of paralysis on July 16 and subsequent testing confirmed polio virus infection, she added.

‘Khan advised to rethink his strategy, engage in meaningful dialogues’, Senator Siddiqui

0
ISLAMABAD, Aug 8 (APP):The parliamentary leader of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) in the Senate Senator Irfan Siddiqui Thursday urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan to adopt a mature approach and appealed to Khan to seek constructive dialogue to address his grievances rather than resorting to immature political tactics.
Talking to a private news channel, Siddiqui emphasized that by engaging in dialogue, Khan can harness the collective wisdom of stakeholders and find solutions that benefit the country as a whole.
Senator Irfan Siddiqui has urged Imran Khan to take a step towards reconciliation by accepting responsibility for the 9th May incident and apologizing to the nation for any harm caused.
Siddiqui emphasized that this gesture of goodwill is essential for creating a conducive environment for meaningful dialogues with the government.
Furthermore, Siddiqui advised Khan to refrain from criticizing the Army and other institutions, as such rhetoric only serves to further divide the nation, he added.
By putting aside differences and engaging in constructive talks, Khan can work towards finding solutions to the country’s pressing issues, he added.
Senator Irfan Siddiqui criticized Imran Khan for his inconsistent stance and statements, emphasizing that Khan’s lack of maturity and serious strategy has hindered his ability to resolve issues with other political parties.
Siddiqui stressed that dialogue is the only solution to Pakistan’s political challenges, and that without it, Khan will never achieve his goals.
He pointed out that Khan’s propensity for changing his stance and statements has eroded trust and credibility, making it essential for him to adopt a more consistent and serious approach.
In response to a question, Senator Irfan Siddiqui expressed his concern that Imran Khan is heading in the wrong direction, citing his recent alliance with Mahmood Achakzai as a misguided move.
Siddiqui believes that seeking support from Achakzai will not yield any positive results for Khan, he needs to reassess his strategy and seek more constructive partnerships if he hopes to make progress.
