Alhamra’s ‘Hum Azaad Hain’ inspires patriotic passion

LAHORE, Aug 12 (APP):Independence Day celebrations at Alhamra are in full swing, with large crowds flocking to both Alhamra complexes to participate in the festivities.
A particular highlight of the events was the drama “Hum Azaad Hain,” performed at Alhamra Cultural Complex, Qaddafi Stadium. The play, directed and conceived by Qaiser Javed, captivated audiences with its powerful portrayal of patriotism.
The artists delivered outstanding performances infused with deep emotions of love for the homeland. The play beautifully depicted the unwavering determination, diplomacy, and foresight of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Young artists, including Lubna Butt, Mehrab Butt, Ayesha Malik, Abdul Wahab, Muhammad Naseeb, Asad Aqib, and others, received well-deserved applause for their performances. Notable actors like Waheed Butt, Parvez Raza, Javed Rizvi, and Aurangzeb Laghari attended the event and commended Alhamra’s efforts.
Executive Director Alhamra, Sarah Rashid, praised the artists for their exceptional performances. She remarked, “This nation is imbued with the blood of martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the country, and this spirit ensures our eternal existence.”

CS reviews progress on public welfare initiatives

LAHORE, Aug 12 (APP):Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman on Monday visited Sargodha to review the implementation of public welfare initiatives of the Chief Minister
Punjab.
He inspected Khushab Road, other bazaars and issued necessary instructions regarding removal of encroachments and improving the traffic system.
The chief secretary directed the administrative officers to permanently remove  encroachments in cities and control the ‘unruly rickshaws’ without making anyone unemployed. He said that to resolve the problem of parking and encroachments in bazaars, the municipal corporation officials must be assigned permanent duties.
He asked the deputy commissioners to remain in the field for two hours every day to improve the traffic system and remove encroachments.
The CS also inspected the Salwanali Road disposal station where he was briefed by the chief officer Municipal Corporation about the sewage system. Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Ajmal Bhatti, Deputy Commissioner Aurangzeb Haider Khan and Superintending Engineer Public Health Engineering Syed Solat Raza were also present.
Later, the CS presided over a meeting at the Commissioner’s Office, which was attended by the divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, additional deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners of Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar.
He reviewed the progress on the public welfare initiatives of the CM Punjab in the four districts of the division and took a briefing from the deputy commissioners on Suthra Punjab, price control, anti-polio, and revenue matters.
He directed the deputy commissioners of Sargodha, Khushab, Bhakkar and Mianwali to submit a sanitation plan of their respective districts for the next three months.
The CS said that Suthra Punjab, price control and anti-polio should be the priority of every deputy commissioner, adding that all assistant commissioners should be mobilized to achieve the goals of Suthra Punjab.
He directed that the land record computerization work be completed as soon as possible.
He said that the DCs must prepare an emergency plan to deal with floods, urban flooding and hill torrents.
The CS said that a zero-tolerance policy had been adopted regarding corruption in government institutions. He emphasised that officers would have to work 18 hours a day to improve public service delivery and governance.
Expressing concern over the presence of polio virus in Punjab, the CS ordered that the deputy commissioners were required to monitor the anti-polio activities themselves in districts and take regular reports on the performance of field staff.

Arrangements of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain reviewed

SUKKUR, Aug 12 (APP):Chairman, Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui Town Committee, Tariq Chauhan, along with officials concerned reviewed the arrangements regarding civic facilities on the occasion of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A), during the visit to different Parks and it’s the surrounding areas.
On this occasion, the organizers briefed the Chairman about the provision of municipal services.
 On this occasion, Tariq said that after the rains, special measures were taken for cleaning and dewatering on the routes of mourning processions and Majalis of Chehlum. In this regard, he said arrangements were made in the surroundings of Imambargahs and on the routes of processions.
The arrangements regarding Chehlam Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) have been finalized while the concerned departments have been put on alert that they will be available to provide all possible facilities on the occasion of Chehlum. It is worth mentioning here that around 1509 officers and personnel of the Sukkur police would perform security duties for the procession of Chehlum of Imam Hussain.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi meets Chairman MQM Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and JUP Secretary General Owais Nooran

ISLAMABAD, Aug 12 (APP): Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi held separate meetings with Chairman MQM Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and JUP Secretary General Owais Noorani. During the meetings, matters of mutual interest, the overall political situation of the country and promoting religious harmony and brotherhood were discussed.

Mohsin Naqvi and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui strongly condemned the vicious propaganda against state institutions. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that state institutions are a proud asset of the country, and the the organized propaganda against state institutions is like betraying the country. He underscored that no one will be allowed to run a nefarious campaign against the state institutions.

Interior Minister pointed out that any attempt to hinder Pakistan’s development and people’s prosperity will not succeed. He said that personal interests have no value in the face of national interests. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that everyone needs to unite and move forward for the sake of the country.

During meeting with JUP Secretary General Owais Noorani, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that JUP has always spoken for the best interest of the country. He reiterated that everyone needs to move forward by joining their hands together. He highlighted that we need to bring the country out of its current challenges through positive thinking and unity. He said that our beloved country has been facing numerous challenges and we need to turn these challenges into opportunities. Owais Noorani said that they stand united with the Government in journey of the country’s development and prosperity.

School children involves in monsoon tree plantation across Sukkur

This initiative involves both government and private schools, with Deputy Commissioner (DC) actively seeking their cooperation to bolster the effort.
Tree-planting activities have commenced in various schools and local communities, aided by the involvement of students.
The campaign includes an awareness drive about the importance of trees and climate change.
Schools have organized educational sessions to inform students about the environmental benefits of trees.

Seven more connections severed over violations

LODHRAN, Aug 12 (APP):Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) UFG Control Task Force raided and disconnected  seven more connections over violations.
According to details, the meters of two consumers were installed away from the service, causing leakage and resulting in financial losses to the department. Consequently, their meters were disconnected.
One consumer’s meter was found to be suspicious due to seal tampering, leading to its disconnection as well.
Additionally, three consumers had meters with broken counters, which were found to be tampered with and were therefore disconnected. Another consumer’s meter was listed as non-billing but was installed on-site, causing UFG-related losses to the department due to gas usage. This meter was also disconnected.Further departmental action has been recommended for all disconnected meters and the meters have been sent to the laboratory for further investigation.
The Task Force Incharge said that gas pilferers were national criminals and should be dealt with strictly.

PFA shuts juice plant over manufacturing counterfeit fruit drinks

LODHRAN, Aug 12 (APP):Punjab Food Authority (PFA) raided and imposed heavy fines on several restaurants, water plants, and other food points for violating hygiene standards.
The operations were underway to eliminate adulteration across various districts under supervision of Director Operations South, Asif Iqbal.
PFA team raided at a juice plant at 144 9/ L Harappa, where counterfeit fruit drinks were being produced under well-known brand name.
These drinks were found to contain artificial sweeteners during the test. The juice plant was shut down until further improvement, and FIR was registered against the food business owners for counterfeiting.
Similarly, inspection and actions were carried out at a well-known restaurant and water plant at Mana Mor Buraewala, Kahroor Pacca road Mailsi, and Mitro Road. Production at two water plants was halted due to the presence of arsenic in the water, and filtered water and equipment were seized until further improvement.
A fine of Rs 40,000 was imposed on a restaurant over the presence of expired jams.

Sindh Sports Minister announces cash award of Rs3.5 million for Arshad Nadeem

KARACHI, Aug 12 (APP):Sindh Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs  and Agriculture Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar, has announced a cash award of Rs3.5 million for Arshad Nadeem in recognition of his remarkable achievement in winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
In a video statement on Monday, Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar, revealed that the Sports and Youth Department of the Sindh Government will be awarding Arshad Nadeem Rs 2.5 million. In addition to this, the minister personally pledged an additional Rs 1 million, bringing the total reward to PKR 3.5 million.
“Arshad Nadeem has made the entire nation proud with his outstanding performance and dedication. We are honored to celebrate his success,” said Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar. The minister also expressed his intention to meet Arshad Nadeem soon to personally congratulate him on his historic achievement.
