Shaza, British High Commissioner discuss matters of mutual interest

ISLAMABAD, Aug 19 (APP):Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and British High Commissioner to Pakistan Ms. Jane Marriott called on Monday discussed matters of mutual interest, IT and Telecommunication, digitalization and cybersecurity.
According to news release the two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in IT and Telecom sector.
Shaza Fatima apprised the British High Commissioner about Smart Islamabad project.
She said the present government is taking steps for digitalization in the country.
She said women empowerment is included in priorities, adding Ministry of IT is committed for ending digital gender divide in the country.
British High Commissioner Jane Marriott said UK wanted to boost cooperation with Pakistan in the field of IT and Telecommunication.
The meeting was also attended by Director General International Coordination Syed Jawwad Ali Sherazi.

Islamabad to get modern 100-Bed International Hospital

ISLAMABAD, Aug 19 (APP): Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi on Monday laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art 100-bed international hospital in Islamabad, a collaborative project between the National Police Foundation (NPF) and a Turkish company, set to revolutionize healthcare for policemen and public.
Mohsin Naqvi in his address emphasized the significance of this project, stating, “This hospital will provide advanced health facilities to policemen and the public, showcasing our commitment to their welfare.”
The hospital, valued at an estimated 5 billion rupees, is being entirely funded and constructed by the Turkish company.
Naqvi said that the project not only marks a significant step in improving health facilities in the region but is also seen as a major breakthrough for the NPF, which has been revitalized under the leadership of Sabir Ahmed, MD NPF.
Minister Naqvi highlighted that the proceeds from this and other NPF projects are being channeled into the welfare of police officers and the families of martyrs. He emphasized the government’s dedication to supporting these initiatives across Pakistan, including recent efforts in Hyderabad and the ongoing reconstruction of the National Police Academy.
This new hospital is expected to significantly enhance healthcare services for the police force and the general public, setting a new standard for healthcare infrastructure in the region.

Data Ganj Bakhsh’s Urs: LHC announces local holiday on Aug 26

LAHORE, Aug 19 (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) has declared August 26 (Monday) as a local holiday for courts on account of the “Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri (RA),” popularly known as Data Ganj Bakhsh.
According to a notification issued on Monday, the LHC Principal Seat and all sessions as well as civil courts of Lahore district will not function on August 26.
The notification was issued following the approval of LHC Acting Chief Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh.
The Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri (RA) is a major religious event, and thousands of devotees from Pakistan and abroad are expected to attend the annual festivities.

Sindh govt’s 7th CSTP trainees delegation visits CPO

LAHORE, Aug 19 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the Punjab Police is focusing equally on both crime prevention and efficient service delivery to the citizens.
He said that every document in the Punjab Police is linked with a QR code, and the feedback from citizens is commendable, which is being used to further enhance the quality of services.
He shared these insights at the Central Police Office (CPO) while addressing the delegation of trainees from Sindh government’s 7th Civil Services Training Programme (CSTP).
He emphasised that the combined efforts of police, administration and other institutions can significantly reduce citizens’ difficulties. Hence, all officers should prioritise the swift resolution of public issues and easy delivery of justice, he added and mentioned that the process of implementing Safe City technology across all districts of Punjab is progressing rapidly. After upgrading the front-end of police stations, other developmental projects are being completed swiftly.
During the visit, detail awareness was given to officers from Sindh government’s various departments on Punjab Police operations and service delivery projects.
Additional IG Operations Shehzada Sultan briefed on law and order and operations branch professional matters, mentioning that Punjab Police’s border check posts are being upgraded with modern resources. Punjab Police has thwarted terrorist attacks in DG Khan and Mianwali. The DIG briefed on investigation matters, while DIG Welfare Ghazi Salahuddin discussed welfare initiatives.
The AIG Inspection Shaista Nadeem highlighted ongoing measures for women’s protection and the objectives of Tahafuz markaz. AIG Admin Dr. Rizwan Ahmad Khan spoke about administrative matters, and SSP Mustansir Feroz shed light on community policing initiative. He said that the “Mera Pyara App” has connected 1,000 children with their parents so far. The App, equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) system features, is helping resolve issues for hundreds of families.
The trainee officers were given a tour of the 1,787 IG complaint centre, monitoring & control room and other floors of the CPO. At the end of the visit, the IGP presented the delegation’s head with a book titled “Thane Punjab De” based on the upgrading of police stations.

Funeral prayers for DSP Chaudhry Musarat Abbas offered

CHAKWAL, Aug 19 (APP): The funeral prayers for Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rawalpindi, Chaudhry Musarat Abbas, were offered in his ancestral graveyard of village Saral here on Monday.

He was the brother of Director General Information Department Lahore Chaudhry Shafqat Abbas, Chairman Union Council Saral Chaudhry Nisar Abbas, former MPA and Parliamentary Secretary Punjab Chaudhry Ejaz Hussain Farhat, Chaudhry Nasir Abbas (Late), Chaudhry Ameer Abbas (Late), and nephew of Sardar Habib Khan Kot Chaudharyan and brother-in-law of Raja Tariq Afzal Kalis.

The funeral prayers were attended by MNA Haji Sardar Ghulam Abbas, MPA Tanveer Aslam Sethi, Managing Director Associated Press of Pakistan Muhammad Asim Khichi, Senior Journalist and former MNA Chaudhry Ayaz Ameer, former Provincial Minister Raja Yasir Sarfraz, Chief Sardar Group Sardar Aftab Akbar Khan, General Retired Hafiz Masroor Ahmed Bhatta, Brigadier Najab Khan, General Retired Yaqoob Khan, Chaudhry Ali Nasir Bhatti, Sardar Azhar Abbas, Sardar Colonel Zulfikar Khan, Raja Haroon Sarfraz Chakwal, Former MPA Rawalpindi Chaudhry Kamran Khan Chakri, DSP Traffic Raja Shakeel Ahmed, Senior Journalist Hafiz Mohammad Iqbal, Editor K-2 Raja Kashif, Ex-Chairman Union Council Mangwal Haji Gulistan, Sajjad Hussain Mair, Chaudhry Amjad Hussain Advocate, Chaudhry Najamul Hasan Gondal, Seth Adeel Ahmad, Azadar Chaudhry Azhar Abbas Chakwal, Chaudhry Sajid Hussain Advocate, Tariq Jameel Khan, Chaudhry Yusuf Thoha, Contractor Sajjad Hussain, SHO Police Station Dhadial Mirza Asif, and prominent figures from different departments, and senior journalists also participated.

Chaudhry Musarat Abbas died on Sunday due to cardiac arrest while on duty.

May-9 cases: ATC grants interim bail to Hafiz Farhat Abbas till Sept 7

LAHORE, Aug 19 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Hafiz Farhat Abbas till September 7 in two cases involving the torching of police vehicles near Rahat Bakery during the May 9 riots.
The court ordered the PTI MPA to furnish surety bonds of Rs 100,000 in both cases.
ATC Judge Irfan Haider conducted proceedings on the bail petitions of Hafiz Farhat Abbas, who also appeared in court.
It is pertinent to mention that the court had earlier rejected the interim bail of Hafiz Farhat Abbas in both cases due to his non-appearance, but he has again approached the court for bail.
The Sarwar Road police had registered cases against Hafiz Farhat Abbas and others for torching police vehicles near Rahat Bakery during the May 9 riots.

President Zardari mourns martyrdom of three Pak army soldiers in Bajaur

ISLAMABAD, Aug 19 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday expressed profound sorrow over the martyrdom of three soldiers of Pak army in Bajaur during their fight against terrorists and paid tribute to their sacrifice in defending the country.

A press release from the President House stated that the president praised the martyrs as the nation’s pride and expressed deep gratitude for their supreme sacrifice. He highlighted that the security forces successfully thwarted the terrorists’ infiltration attempt, defeating them decisively. The president affirmed that the entire nation salutes the Pakistan Army’s spirit of patriotism and sacrifice.

The president stated that the entire nation honors its martyrs and will forever remember their sacrifices. He prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace and for their families to find strength and solace during this difficult time.
