CM honors position holders of all education boards

LAHORE, Aug 20 (APP):For the first time in history, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif invited all position holder students of all 09 Education Boards of Punjab to Chief Minister Office, along with their parents and teachers.
A grand and dignified ceremony was held in the Chief Minister’s Office in their honor on Tuesday. They were awarded with cash prizes, medals and certificates.

Govt spending huge amount to help farmer community: Qaiser

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP):Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh on Tuesday said that Center is spending huge amount to help facilitate the farmer community of Balochistan region.
A heavy amount was provided to farmer community so that they could convert tube-wells into solar energy, he said while talking to PTV.
The federal and Punjab governments had also allocated sufficient funds to extend relief to people in electricity sector, he added.
All available resources are being utilized to facilitate the people of provinces, he stated. The funds were provided to provinces through NFC award, he said.
Reply to a question about role of Pakistan Peoples Party in Sindh, he said that PPP leadership had started work on health, and housing sector to address the issues of the people.
He also urged the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa to utilize funds for addressing genuine grievances of the masses living in the provincial areas.

Political Unity Crucial for Pakistan’s Stability: Musadik Malik

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP):Petroleum Minister Musadik Malik on Tuesday said the political unity was pivotal and calls for urgent need to resolve political tensions in the country.
Talking to a private news channel, he said that there was no alternative to reducing the current strain except harmony.
“Political tensions must be alleviated, whether it exist between institutions or political parties,” Malik said.
He stressed that without reducing these tensions, nothing else can be achieved.
The minister also highlighted the importance of dispelling the sense of hopelessness among the nation.
“The situation may be challenging, but it should not lead to despair or a loss of confidence in moving forward,” he said.
Minister called for collective efforts to unify the nation, urging all parties to come together for the greater good of Pakistan.

Committed to putting Pakistan on path of progress: State Minister

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP): Minister of State for Finance, Revenue, and Power, Ali Pervez Malik on Tuesday said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was steadfast in its commitment to steering the country toward progress.
Talking to a private news channel, he said that the government will continue its efforts until Pakistan achieves its rightful and commendable position on the global stage.
He said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was personally overseeing reforms in the energy sector and other economic measures.
“We are making significant progress and will soon overcome the relevant issues,” he stated.
Regarding the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the minister said that positive news was expected in the coming weeks.
“We are making good progress toward closing the deal with the IMF, and we are fully committed to it. All prior actions have been completed,” he assured.
He further said the government was doing all the efforts to support low-income electricity users.
The federal government has already reduced the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) and provided subsidies to low-income users consuming up to 200 units of electricity, he said.
He also praised the Punjab government’s initiative to protect users consuming between 201 and 500 units, suggesting that other provinces could follow suit using their National Finance Commission (NFC) allocations. “We will welcome any such initiatives,” he added.
Addressing concerns about the temporary nature of these measures, he acknowledged that they are indeed short-term solutions but emphasized their importance.
“Given the increased consumption during these two months, they have reduced the burden of additional bills,” he concluded.

PTI uses harmful tactics to pressurize national institutions: Rana

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP):Advisor to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah on Tuesday said that Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), had used different tactics to pressurize the national institutions for personal gains.
     PTI was found hatching conspiracy against the security institutions on May 9, he said while talking to a private television channel. The PTI supporters had been involved in damaging security installations during May 9 mayhem, he added.
      In reply to a question about November 26 protest demonstration and sit-in, he said the PTI tried to put pressure on judiciary and security institutions through sit-in and protest demonstration. The planners of May 9 , would have punishment, he said.
    Commenting on the role of PTI in the country’s politics, he said Pakistan Muslim League-N, had always taken initiatives for talks with PTI in the larger national interest. He said that dialogue is the only way to resolve the political issues.

Construction work on Government Service Center at KAGHAN starts

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP): Construction work on Government Service Center at KAGHAN Region has started with the assistance of Sukki Kinari Project Company.
Far from the city of Mansehra, KAGHAN is located in a remote mountainous area with a large population, said a press release issued on Tuesday.
The local people have to travel a long way to Mansehra to handle government affairs, which is time-consuming and extremely inconvenient. However, this situation would improve significantly with the construction of Government Service Center in KAGHAN Region, it was further said.
Once completed, the Center will significantly facilitate local people to handle government affairs, improve the processing efficiency, and benefit local society and people’s livelihood.
Construction work on Government Service Center at KAGHAN starts
It is pertinent to mention here that SK Hydropower Station will achieve commercial operation date (COD) soon. After COD is obtained, the Project is estimated to provide 3.212 billion KWH of clean electricity, save about 1.28 million tons of standard coal, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 3.2 million tons, and supply clean electricity to more than 1 million Pakistani households every year.
This will effectively alleviate the power shortage in Pakistan, and have a positive and far-reaching impact on the adjustment of national power energy structure, solving the imbalance between supply and demand, and promoting the transformation of infrastructure and economic development of the country.

Experts warn against unrefined edible oils, citing severe health risks

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP): The Nutrition International, in collaboration with the Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) conducted an awareness session on Tuesday to address the serious health risks posed by the consumption of open and unrefined edible oils.
The event focused on the benefits of fortifying edible oils with essential vitamins, the widespread deficiency of vitamins A and D in Pakistan, and the dangers associated with unregulated oil sales.
The session brought together representatives from trade associations, edible oil mills, the health department, and various community members.
Deputy Director of the Islamabad Food Authority, Dr. Tahira Saddique, was a key speaker, highlighting the authority’s efforts to enhance food security through the fortification of edible oils.
She pointed out that more than half of the women and children in Pakistan suffer from micro-nutrient deficiencies, including iron, vitamin A, and vitamin D.
Dr. Tahira shared alarming statistics, revealing that approximately 9.9 million people in Pakistan are affected by osteoporosis, with 7.2 million of them being women.
She emphasized that fortification is a practical and effective solution to combat malnutrition across the country.
Dr Tahira also underscored the ban on the sale and purchase of open and unrefined oils, stating that strict actions will be taken against those involved in this illegal trade.
She further updated participants on the ongoing operations in Islamabad aimed at ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
Mubashir Sharif, Zonal Manager of the Food Fortification Programme, provided insights into how fortification can be implemented at minimal costs without altering people’s dietary habits.
He emphasized that fortifying edible oils with vitamins and minerals is a crucial step towards improving public health in Pakistan.
Imtiaz Ali Shah, Provincial Programme Manager of Nutrition International, spoke about the dangers of using open and unrefined oils, detailing their adverse effects on health.
He urged oil dealers to stop the open sale of these oils to protect the public from severe health issues.
Shah also mentioned that Nutrition International is working on improving the capacity of edible oil mills and the Food Authority by employing digital technology for better quality assurance and control.
This initiative aims to enhance the overall quality standards and eliminate the circulation of harmful oils in the market.
