Famous actor Jamshed Ansari remembered on death anniversary

ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (APP): The death anniversary of famous radio, television, and film artist Jamshed Ansari was observed on Saturday.

Born on December 31, 1942, in the Saharanpur city of Uttar Pradesh, he migrated to Pakistan along with his family when Pakistan was created in 1947.

His first assignment of acting was in the Pakistan Television play Jharokay.

Jamshed Ansari also played the memorable role of Safdar in the longest-running Pakistani radio program, `Hamid Mian Kay Haan’.

Jamshed’s first television play from Karachi television was ‘Ghora ghaas khata hai’.

In a career spanning over 40 years, Ansari has to his credit over 200 TV dramas, three films, and many radio and stage serials.

He earned 55 national and two international awards in his career.

He breathed his last on August 24, 2005.

Flood warning in Chenab river

MULTAN, Aug 24 (APP):The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) warned of rising water level in Chenab river at location of Head Marala.
About 112964 cusecs feet water is recorded at the said location, giving clear signal of flooding to hit the area.
About 163215 cusecs feet water is accumulated at Khanki location with 101,726 cubic feet of flood is passing at Qadirabad, said PDMA in its freshly released report.
The report further said that moderate to high level flood is anticipated to pass through Chenab river in upcoming few days.
The PDMA issued instructions to inhabitants along the river side to remain alert, for the flood could hit properties and infrastructure anytime near future.

PU faculty member gets ‘Local Chinese Language Teacher Award’

LAHORE, Aug 24 (APP):Punjab University (PU) Chinese Language Teacher at Confucius Institute Abdullah Ze Hasham has been awarded the title of ‘Outstanding Local Chinese Language Teacher-2024’.
This prestigious accolade was conferred by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), an agency under the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.
According to PU’s spokesperson, the award recognizes exceptional contributions to the promotion and teaching of the Chinese language, and as part of the honor, Abdullah Ze Hasham participated in a two-week intensive training program at Beijing Normal University.
PU Confucius Institute Host-Director Prof Dr Shafiq-ur-Rehman congratulated Abdullah Ze Hasham. He said that Hasham accomplishment reflects not only his personal dedication but also the Confucius Institute University of the Punjab role in strengthening educational ties between China and Pakistan.

Ishaq Dar opens canopies at Data Ganj Bakhsh shrine

LAHORE, Aug 24 (APP):Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar inaugurated canopies of Masjid-e-Nabvi-style at the Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh shrine premises, here on Saturday.
Speaking to the media, he said Nawaz Sharif had led the country on the path to development. He said if the government of Nawaz Sharif had not been overthrown in 2014, the country would have progressed manifold by now. Dar said that running the economy was not like turning on or off a switch, adding they were trying hard to solve the public problems under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He said inflation was decreasing due to efforts of the PML-N led government, that had made Pakistan a nuclear power. “Now, it will also make it an economic power,” he added. He said that with the grace of Almighty Allah, terrorism would be eradicated soon.
Ishaq Dar said that he would solve the electricity problems soon and give relief to people.
He told the media that any attack on national security institutions was government’s red line, and if any one tried to cross the red line, then there was no room for him here.
Replying to a query regarding May 9 incidents, Ishaq Dar said that the law was making its way, and the criminals of May 9 would be brought to justice.

CM Maryam visits RY Khan to console families of police martyrs

RAHIM YAR KHAN, Aug 24 (APP):Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited the families of police martyrs of Rahim Yar Khan at the DPO office to share their grief.
The police martyrs included Muhammad Imran, Rashid, Sajid, Ahmed, Zahid, Munir, Nazir Abbas, Ins Sattar, and Abdullah. Among those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty were three Hindu youths namely Ajay Ram, Bairam Ram, and Raja Kanwal.
CM Maryam Nawaz met the parents, family members, and children of the martyrs. She offered prayers for the martyrs and comforted the grieving families by visiting the relatives of the martyrs one by one. She encouraged the mothers and widows of the martyrs. Maryam also embraced a crying widow. She showed affection to the young children of a martyr.
“There was a lapse, and we will rectify the mistake. Such incidents will not happen again,” stated Maryam Nawaz Sharif. “Every martyr is a hero of the nation; the bereaved families will receive full support,” she added. “The children of martyrs will be provided with free education, housing, and employment,” Maryam Nawaz Sharif promised. “I have no words to express the sorrow over the martyrdom of police officers due to the bandits’ attack,” Maryam Nawaz said. “As soon as I received the news, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif instructed me to visit the grieving families immediately,” she mentioned. “Every life is precious; we will also ensure protection of police officers,” emphasised Maryam Nawaz. “We must find a permanent solution to the issue of Katcha area. Construction of checkpoints will be completed soon,” she promised.
Maryam Nawaz received a detailed briefing in the committee room at the DPO office. She was informed about the details of the tragic incident in Katcha area. Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Special Assistant Rashid Nasrullah, Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal, IGP Police Dr. Usman Anwar, additional IGs, police officers, and administrative officials accompanied her.

Food points fined over hygiene rules violations

LODHRAN, Aug 24 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) made inspections of multiple food points in various districts and imposed over Rs 165,000 fine over hygiene rules violations.
The food safety teams made inspection of two beverage plants in Jinnah Colony, Old Shujabad road. One plant was shut down till further improvement after failing sample tests, while the other was fined Rs. 50,000.
Similarly, two bakeries at BCG Chowk, Sher Shah Road, were fined Rs. 25,000 each due to dead insects found in sweets, the absence of workers’ medical certificates and improper food storage.
In Khanewal, two food points were fined Rs. 30,000 for storing expired food, not maintaining records of oil changes, and having poor hygiene. The inspections took place on Rahim Shah road, Jehania.
Furthermore, a milk shop was fined Rs. 20,000 for water adulteration and insufficient fat content in the milk. Additionally, a bakery in Lodhran was fined Rs 15,000 for cobwebs in the production area, lack of cleanliness in freezers and improper food storage.
