Caretaker Chief Minister inaugurates solarization of educational institutions, hospitals in Balochistan

QUETTA, Feb 6 (APP): Balochistan Caretaker Chief Minister Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki on Tuesday inaugurated the extensive solarization project of converting various public department buildings including educational, institutions, healthcare facilities and civic departments renewables that will provide clean, affordable and uninterrupted power supply to the government departments.
The Balochistan government with the support of the Chinese government has completed the solarization of some 12 projects including educational institutions that have been equipped with modern solar power facilities.  On the occasion, Chairman Friends of China Forum Bayazeed Kasin briefed the meeting regarding the projects.
Ali Mardan Domki has esteemed the Chinese government’s support to the provincial government for the solarization and provision of basic facilities across the province. He said that China has always supported the Balochistan government in its development endeavours of the province.
“Pakistan and China are known and recognized as friendly countries all over the world due to their close political, social and economic relations. These cordial relations span over the past seven decades and possess very deep and durable roots. It is certainly possible due to the understanding of the leadership of both the countries and a common vision for the future,” Chief Minister Ali Domki said.
The Chief Minister added that China’s largest investment in Pakistan is the CPEC projects, which have proved to be another strong link in the long-lasting relationship between China and Pakistan due to strongly intertwined economic ties.
“Pakistan and China have an excellent relationship of friendship and neighbourliness which is getting stronger over time,” he added.
Ali Mardan said that the establishment of a modern hospital in Gwadar under Pakistan-China friendship, a desalination water plant to provide clean drinking water to the people of Gwadar and other public welfare projects are manifestations of Pakistan-China friendship.
Ali Mardan said due to the vision of the leadership of Pakistan and China, CPEC has made significant progress and there have been key achievements in the construction and development of Gwadar port. He said that CPEC is a major project from 2014 to 2030 that includes infrastructure, energy, development of Gwadar port and industrial cooperation.
“We are determined that the valuable partnership between Pakistan and China will be developed on more sustainable lines,” he maintained. The Ambassador of China to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong participated in the inaugural ceremony and expressed his views through a video link held here at Chief Minister’s secretariat.
The projects of solarisation of government schools, hospitals and installation of solarized street lights in different areas of Balochistan including the solarisation and establishment of a computer lab at Government Girls High School District Kech (Turbat), computer lab at the Public Library of Turbat University district Kech (Turbat), the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the DHQ Hospital district Kech, Government Boys High School Kan Mehtarzai district (Killa Saifullah ), Sachan Family Healthcare Hospital” Mand, Kech district, Gwadar University district Gwadar, Noor Pur Jamali Govt Boys High School and installation of solar lights in Tehsil Gandakha, Usta Muhammad district, government buildings in Tehsil Wadh District khuzdar solarisation of Pakistan Grammar School Dera Bugti, solar street lights installed in Kidney Hospital Quetta, solar lights installed in local village in Kalat district and solar lights installed in local village in Chaghi District of the province.

SMEDA, PSIC introduce Pak SMEs in ‘Showcase Ireland-2024’

LAHORE, Feb 06 (APP): In a historic move, a joint delegation of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) and Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) have made the first-ever visit of Ireland to exhibit Pakistani SMEs at the world’s famous trade fair “Showcase Ireland 2024”.
The delegation, comprising innovative and dynamic small and medium-sized businesses, explored opportunities and fostered collaborations in the international market.
It is notable that the said historical initiative was planned as well as materialised by Farhan Aziz Khawaja, while working as CEO SMEDA a few months back, and currently, he is posted as DG Civil Services Academy, but still instrumental to conclude the SME development initiatives launched by him during his posting at SMEDA, according to SMEDA spokesman here Tuesday.
The marketing experts have observed that developed countries for being transferred on the technology, were facing a dearth of handicrafts in their markets that had created an adequate space for Pakistan’s Handicrafts.
They have proposed to promote Pakistan’s Handicrafts in the developed world through Pakistan’s high commissions abroad.
The SMEDA Head (External Relations Department) Sheharyar Tahir, who represented SMEDA in the delegation, has marked the visit as a great source of marketing opportunities for Pakistani handicrafts.
He said that Showcase – Ireland’s Creative Expo, being one of the Ireland’s largest international trade shows, had opened Pakistan’s SMEs to over 3,350 buyers from across the world including Ireland, the UK, the USA, Europe and the Far East.
Showcase Ireland 2024, a premier trade event in Dublin, brings together a diverse range of exhibitors and industry professionals from around the world. The Pakistani delegation showcased the unique products and capabilities of the country’s small and medium enterprises on this global platform.
The Pakistani Embassy in Ireland, in collaboration with the Pakistan Ireland Business Council (PIBC), played a pivotal role in facilitating this groundbreaking initiative. The proactive approach of both entities underscored their commitment to fostering economic diplomacy and enhancing bilateral trade relations.
Her Excellency Aisha Farooqui, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Ireland, expressed enthusiasm about the delegation’s participation, stating, “This is a momentous occasion for Pakistani businesses.
We are proud to showcase the rich diversity and ingenuity of our SMEs on a global platform. The collaboration between SMEDA, PSIC, and our embassy is a testament to the strong ties between Pakistan and Ireland.”

ECP regional office establishes 2,860 polling stations for 8 districts of Hazara division

ABBOTTABAD, Feb 06 (APP): The Regional Election Commission Office on Tuesday established 2,860 polling stations and 8,314 polling booths for the general elections on 8th February 2024.
This plan caters to a total of 343,456 male and female voters spread across eight districts in the Hazara division.
According to the breakdown of the polling stations and polling booths, in Kohistan Upper district, with 75,660 voters, 74 common polling stations have been set up, including 91 male and 81 female polling booths.
For Kohistan Lower, with 76,984 voters, 67 common polling stations have been established comprising 87 male polling and 78 female polling booths.
In Kolai Palas district, with 43,481 voters, 59 common polling stations were established including 70 male and 66 female polling booths.
For the 328,902 registered voters of Battagram district, 352 polling stations including 63 male, 59 female, and 157 common polling stations have been set up, comprising 383 male and 268 female polling booths.
For the district with the highest number of voters, 1,106,237, the district election commission established 240 male, 230 female, and 395 common polling stations, with 1,453 male and 1,239 female polling booths.
For the 121,656 registered voters of Torghar district, 123 common polling stations were established consisting of 172 male and 152 female polling booths.
Similarly, for the 952,621 registered male and female voters of Abbottabad district, 125 polling stations each for male and female and 538 common polling stations were set up, including 1,262 male and 1,016 female polling booths.
For the 724,915 registered male and female voters of Haripur district, 143 each for male and female, and 318 common polling stations were set up, including 1,007 polling booths for males and 899 for females.

ECP’s code of conduct to be ensured in the general election

Dera Ismail Khan, Feb 06 (APP): The strict implementation of the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should be ensured to maintain the law and order situation in the district, SP Headquarters Arshad Khan said on Tuesday.
He stated this while chairing a meeting on the direction of the District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ismail Khan Abdul Rauf Babar Qaisrani said to review the arrangements made by the police department for peaceful conduct of upcoming general elections and to implement the code of conduct issued by the ECP.
The meeting was attended by the DSP Saddar Circle Saleem Baloch, DSP Security In-charge Muhammad Anwar Khan, SHOs, sector in charge and other police officials at Police Station Dera Town.
During the meeting, SP Headquarters said that the DPO gave special instructions to the relevant sector in-charges regarding the ECP’s code of conduct and security duty.
In order to protect the life and property of the people, the police officers and officials on security duty at the polling stations should keep a close watch on the movement of suspicious persons. He said the safety of the election staff and materials as well as the public on the polling day must be ensured.

Non-resolution of Kashmir issue can trigger third world war: Mushaal

ISLAMABAD, Feb 6 (APP): Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Human Rights and Women Empowerment Mushaal Hussein Mullick Tuesday said that the non-resolution of the Kashmir issue could trigger a third world war and urged that the international powers to play a role in that regard.
She said this while addressing as Chief Guest at a ceremony organized by Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry to observe Kashmir Day,said a press release issued here.
The special assistant said that Kashmir Solidarity Day served as a reminder that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were not alone in their struggle against the Indian illegal occupation.
She described the people of Jammu and Kashmir as a barrier against Modi’s attempts to create an Akhand Bharat.
Mushaal characterized the Hindutva regime of India and the Zionist regime of Israel as significant threats to world peace.
She asserted that both Modi and Netanyahu were in a race, with Modi pursuing a brutal genocide in Kashmir and Netanyahu in Palestine.
The special assistant asserted that India was actively altering the demographics of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) by indiscriminately granting Kashmiri domiciles to non-Kashmiris.
 He expressed concern about the eradication of Muslim heritage under the auspices of the Modi government.
She urged the international community to intervene and play a role in the solution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN resolutions.
She said that a Kashmir Committee had been formed in PM Secretariat to develop a long term strategic plan on Kashmir for the government.
Kashmir Centers were being set up in Universities and Kashmir Cause was being highlighted at district levels
 Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ICCI), President, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari said.
He said Pakistan stood with the people of Occupied Kashmir and would continue to provide them moral and diplomatic support till the time they achieve their right to self-determination.
He said that Kashmir Day reminded us to reiterate our full support to the Indian-administered Kashmiri people.
The president said the day highlighted a dark chapter in human history as India’s illegal occupation of Occupied Kashmir was an international dispute that should be resolved according to the UN’s Security Council resolutions.
He said that Indian brutalities against Kashmiri people spanning over seven decades had failed to break the resolve of the Kashmiri people.
He urged the UN and the international community to play a role in resolving this dispute, which is a flashpoint between Pakistan and India.
e South Asian region can move towards development and prosperity by promoting regional trade, but until the Kashmir issue is resolved, it is impossible to achieve these goals.
 Vice President ICCI, Engr. Azhar ul Islam Zafar, urged all the major powers of the world to play a role in the just solution of the Kashmir issue so that this region gets better development and moves out of poverty towards prosperity.
Zafar Bakhtawari, former President ICCI and Secretary General UBG Pakistan said that Kashmir and Palestine issues were kept alive to destroy the potential of Pakistan and the Middle East.
 He lauded the role of Meshaal Hussein Mullick for the Kashmir cause and hoped that Kashmir would one day get freedom from India.
President Islamabad High Court Bar,Naveed Malik,  Ajmal Baloch, Rana Muhammad Akram, Rana Saeed Doshi, Ms. Nasira Ali, and others also spoke on the occasion and called for the resolution of Kashmir issues as per aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
