KP CM directs BoR to collect record of mutation
PESHAWAR, Jan 22 (APP): Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Justice (R) Syed Arshad Hussain Shah has directed the high-ups of the Board of Revenue (BoR) to collect all the records/transactions of mutation from across the province, said an official handout issued here on Monday.
He has further directed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to provide the land transaction records made during the last two months in their respective districts and submit those records to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat for verification/scrutiny to the effect that no extra money has been charged by the relevant revenue staff in the mutation process.
The Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell, after receiving the records of mutation, will telephonically contact the concerned citizens to know whether they have been charged extra money by the concerned revenue staff for mutation or otherwise, and in case any extra money is charged, strict action will be initiated against the relevant revenue officials.
It merits mention here that the Chief Minister had received some public complaints from a few places in the province regarding such malpractice on the part of the revenue staff, and this initiative of the Chief Minister is aimed at preventing such alleged malpractices.
To this effect, the Chief Minister has urged upon the general public to proactively register their complaints in the Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell adding that their identity will not be disclosed and action will be taken against the official involved in such practices.
Syed Arshad Hussain Shah has made it clear that his government has a zero-tolerance policy against corruption in all its forms, and there will be no room for corrupt people in this government.
Pakistani envoy seeks ways to promote trade among OIC states
ISLAMABAD, Jan 22 (APP): Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Syed Fawad Sher on Monday held a meeting with Director of International Relations Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development Aalia Jafar in Jeddah.
According to a post on X by the Pakistani envoy, they discussed issues of mutual interest and agreed on enhancing the role of the private sector in promoting trade and investment among states of OIC.
Ambassador Baseer calls for enhanced interaction between Pakistani, African companies
ISLAMABAD, Jan 22 (APP): Pakistan’s ambassador to Zimbabwe Murad Baseer on Monday called for enhanced interaction between Pakistani and African companies to boost trade and business.
He was talking during a zoom meeting of representatives of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Pan African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PACCI).
Both sides discussed possibilities of creating business opportunities and future cooperation. A memorandum of understanding was also in the offing as a result of the meeting.
In a series of posts on X, the ambassador highlighted the issues and difficulties of Pakistani companies in conducting trade and business in Africa.
He suggested that linkages between PACCI and FPCCI would benefit them in understanding the African landscape.
He said Pakistani companies have to think big and consider the future implications for engagement in light of Vision 2063 of Africa.
“We need to start working on trade agreements either with strategic nations or Regional Economic Communities in Africa,” he said adding, “There is a need for integrated financing, cost-effective timely logistics and for putting dispute mechanisms in place before a company can seriously make an effort to enter into the African market.”
Minister hails, USAID’s for securing foreign investment to Pakistan
ISLAMABAD, Jan 22 (APP): Caretaker Federal Minister for Commerce, Dr Gohar Ejaz on Monday appreciated USAID’s initiative in securing foreign investment for Pakistani businessmen, focusing on small and medium enterprises.
The minister said this while addressing the investment summit organized by USAID, said a press release issued here.
He said the top 100 companies export $20 billion and the rest of Pakistan exports $10 billion.
If 20000 small businesses export $1 million, the trade deficit can be eliminated, this target can be achieved in one year.
“Our trade deficit is $20 billion and the government wants to focus on 20,000 small investors.”
“I have taken these Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to Egypt, GCC countries and China to explore new markets.

Elected govt will have to take solid steps to put country on path to progress: Sherpao
PESHAWAR, Jan 22 (APP): Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Monday said the next elected government would have to take solid steps to put the country back on the path to progress and prosperity.
Addressing a public meeting in Shabqadar, Charsadda district, he said that Pakistan was facing three major challenges, including political instability, law and order and high inflation.
He said that the next government would also have to work to ensure political stability, which was required for a stable economy.
“The elected government will have to find out-of-box solutions to provide relief to the people,” he added.
Shedding light on the problems faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Aftab Sherpao said its people were facing the shortage of gas and electricity.
He said urged the people to exercise their right to vote with great care and think about the country and their future.
“The people should keep in mind the track record of the candidates before voting for them,” he said, adding that his party would win the next general election based on its performance.
He said that the QWP did not believe in raising hollow slogans as it had always served the people with devotion.
