Old enmity claims life

SARGODHA, Aug 22 (APP):A man was gunned down over an old enmity, in the jurisdiction of Sahiwal police station on Thursday.
Rescue-1122 sources informed that Zaigham had an old enmity with Ghulam Mujtaba, residents of Hussain Shah Bangla over domestic issues. In a fit of grudge, Zaigham with the abetment of two others shot at and killed Ghulam Mujtaba.
Rescue-1122 teams along with local police reached the spot and shifted the body to hospital for necessary legal formalities. Police were looking into the matter.

Livestock Department urges unemployed people to launch animal-rearing business

SARGODHA, Aug 22 (APP):The Livestock Department urged unemployed people of rural areas to rear animals instead of going to cities to earn a livelihood as animal farming is a really a profitable business.
This was informed by senior official Livestock Department Dr Tanveer Kalyar to a group of farmers here on Thursday. He motivated breeders to rear animals, adding that rearing cattle would not only help farmers economically but also contribute to strengthening country’s economy.
“Livestock has a 24pc share in GDP and farmers can enhance their profit by rearing high yielding breeds. Rather than leaving your home and village to find employment in cities, it is better to stay in your village and make livestock business as a means of livelihood,” he said.
“Women can also earn by rearing poultry and sheep. The Livestock Department provides free technical assistance and vaccination facilities to animal and poultry traders,” he added. “About 40 per cent of the local populace in Sargodha region is linked to the livestock sector. Beyond just managing daily sustenance, livestock serves as a financial lifeline during unforeseen emergencies, that can be cashed in at any moment,” he maintained.
“The country is ranked the fifth-largest milk-producing nation globally. This potential can be improved further by investing in animal genetics, where the quality of semen plays a pivotal role in enhancing animal health, and consequently, milk and meat production. On the national scale, approximately eight million individuals are engaged in cattle rearing.”
Zahoor Ahmed Qureshi, a motivated cattle farmer, said that he had started cattle farming few months ago after noticing potential in the field. He stated that he was rearing over 30 cows and it was a highly profitable business. He also urged other farmers to invest in cattle farming.

Tarar for providing opportunities to youth by correcting priorities in IT, agriculture, education, sports fields

ISLAMABAD, Aug 22 (APP): Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture Attaullah Tarar on Thursday stressed the need to provide maximum opportunities to the youth by correcting the priorities in the fields of information technology(IT), agriculture, education, and sports arena.

Addressing the National Youth Convention here he said Pakistan was a lucky country as its 60% population consisted of youth below 30 years of age who could change the destiny of the nation.

“There is a need to correct the direction and economy of the country, bring IT revolution, and promote quality education to the new generation”, the minister said.
He urged the young generation to understand the vision behind the creation of a separate state for Muslims in the subcontinent.

He remarked that Indian atrocities in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and on Indian Muslims across the border had vindicated the stance of Muslims for an independent state.
He said that Kashmiris were still struggling to become part of Pakistan with great resolve, resilience, and determination despite the brutality and oppression of Indian rulers.
He told the participants of the convention that the Quaid-e-Azam was supported by a large number of youths in the Pakistan Movement.

“The youth contributed to the creation of this country, and the youth will change the destiny of this country”, the information minister remarked. He said that Muslim migration from Makkah to Madinah and from India to Pakistan had a lesson for everyone.

He said that about 12,00,000 people sacrificed their lives during migration to Pakistan in 1947 as trains carrying Muslims were attacked and passengers butchered mercilessly.
He said countless women and girls were raped and molested during the process of migration.

He said the holy blood of tens of thousands of martyrs was in the foundations of Pakistan which was created on the 27th of Ramazan. He said that Allah Almighty had created Pakistan on the holiest night of Laila Tul Qadr and he had the belief that this country would prosper, develop, and survive till eternity.

He said now it was the responsibility and duty of the new generation to work hard to make Pakistan a strong, modern, developed nation. “Pakistanis are a determined and hardworking nation and Arshad Nadeem’s success is a beacon and a source of inspiration for youth “, he maintained.

Referring to the determination and hard work of Arshad Nadeem, the minister said he made the first javelin by breaking a tree branch in his village near Mian Channu.
He said overcoming all hardships Arshad Nadeem brought the entire nation together by winning the gold medal as the entire nation celebrated his historic victory in a befitting way.

He said under the Prime Minister’s Laptop scheme, free-of-cost laptops were given on merit to students of educational institutions. He said that laptops given to youth under the PM scheme played an important role in keeping the national economy stable during Covid 19. Similarly, he said that the PML-N government launched the Danish School system in Punjab for deserving students in the most backward areas and this step paid dividends.

Making long and alluring speeches was easier than doing something practical for the welfare of the people of the country, he opined. He said that unfortunately in this digital age, controversies and sensational things attract the attention of the users and constructive achievements fail to get proper coverage.

He stressed the need to fight the tendency of despair and despondency through the creation of hope and providing opportunities to the youth so that their talent could be utilized in a better manner for nation building process.

“Our IT exports have tripled within the last four months and that too at a time when the world is facing recession in the field of information technology”, he informed.
He said that a record number of start-ups were coming in Pakistan and IT experts were emerging which was a good omen.

The minister said that Pakistan’s youth had accomplished a lot on their own and it was the responsibility of the governments to provide them opportunities to further hone their talent.

He said that the development of the nation depended on the development of the youth.
He said that the Prime Minister and the government attached great importance to providing opportunities to the youth. He expressed the confidence that by the grace of Allah Almighty, Pakistan will join the G-20 nation by 2030. He promised that a better Pakistan would be left for future generations.

Six vendors arrested in ICT for price gouging

ISLAMABAD, Aug 22 (APP):In a decisive move to ensure fair pricing, Islamabad’s district administration has launched a crackdown on vendors overcharging customers in local markets and arrested six violators.
In a recent operation led by Assistant Commissioner Pothohar, Aneeq Anwar, six traders were arrested for not adhering to the official price list in the vegetable market. The accused shopkeepers were found charging customers more than the rates prescribed by the government.
During the inspection, it was discovered that many vendors had failed to display the official rate list, which is a mandatory requirement. The absence of this price list led to customers being charged higher rates, prompting immediate action from the authorities.
Assistant Commissioner Anwar emphasized that all shopkeepers must prominently display the official price list to avoid legal consequences.
The District Commissioner has appealed to the public to report any vendor who fails to display the rate list or charges more than the official prices. This action is part of a broader effort to regulate prices and protect consumers from unfair practices in the market.
The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any violations to ensure that all transactions are fair and within the legal framework.

DC inaugurates tree plantation drive

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Naeem Soomro, Assistant Commissioner, Bulri Shah Karim, Azizulla Soomro, DSP, Tando Muhammad Khan, Syed Mujahid Shah and other officials were present on the occasion.

KP govt, Save the Children International inaugurate new girls model school in Swat

PESHAWAR, Aug 22 (APP):The Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Khan Tarakai and Muhammad Khuram Gondal, Country Director, Save the Children International officially inaugurated the newly constructed Government Girls Model School in Karira Jambil, Swat on Thursday.
The school was developed through a collaborative effort between Save the Children International (SCI) and the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP), in partnership with the Elementary and Secondary Education Department KP and the District Education Office (Female), Swat. The project was completed with a financial investment of PKR 58.526 million.
The newly constructed double-story building includes eight rooms, comprising six classrooms, a head teacher’s office, a staff room, and a storeroom. The school is equipped with an 8 kV solar power system, a water tank, a separate inclusive toilet block, and an assembly ground. Accessibility has been prioritized with the inclusion of ramps. This facility will serve approximately 150 students, both girls and boys, from the nearby hamlets of Serai and Sakhra in Karira village.
Construction of the school commenced in mid-October 2023 and was completed in an impressive seven and a half months, with the school ready for students by June 2024.
This initiative underscores the commitment of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Save the Children International, and SRSP to advancing education in the region, particularly for girls, ensuring they have access to a conducive learning environment. Besant Hall Cultural Centre to celebrate two-day Jashn-e-Latif from August 24-25

HYDERABAD, Aug 22 (APP):The Besant Hall Cultural Centre will celebrate a two-day Jashn-e-Latif from August 24-25, 2024.
The Director BHCC Sobia Ali Shaikh informed here on Thursday that writer Noor-ul-Huda Shah would preside over the maiden session of Latif festival.
Eminent intellectuals Dr. Fehmida Hussain, Dr. Sher Mehrani, Dr. Muhammad Ali Manjhi and Shafiq Paracha will speak on the occasion.
Later, a musical session will be held in which eminent singer Manjhi Faqeer will perform.
She further said that a second programme in collaboration with Sindh Culture department and Endowment fund trust will be held in Sindh Indigenous & traditional craft company (SITCO) near Sindh Museum on 25th August (Sunday).
‘Sugharan ji Kacheri’ and  ‘folk music’ will be the part of this function in which eminent  Sughars of Kohistan and Larr will recite ‘Shah ji Waai’ and ask puzzles from Shah Latif’ poetry.
 The Director General Culture and tourism department Munawer Ali Mahesar will  grace the occasion as a Chief guest while former Chairman Sindhi Language Authority Muhammad Ali Maanjhi , Dr. Rehman Gul Palari Professor Karachi University would attend  the session.
