CM KP statement tantamount to attack federation: Ranjha

ISLAMABAD, Sep 12 (APP):Pakistan Muslim League (N) central leader Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha on Thursday said that the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s recent statement regarding negotiations with Afghanistan was tantamount to undermine the Federation.
Talking to a private news channel, he highlighted that foreign policy falls under the jurisdiction of the federal government, warned that any provincial involvement could lead to instability.
He said that keeping in view of the current terrorism and security challenges facing the country, the Chief Minister’s remarks were anti-state.
He said that numerous invitations for dialogue were initiated by the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), especially those concerning national matters, have been ignored by the PTI founder.
He urged that the current economic and security crises of the country will be resolved by the collective efforts of all the stakeholders.

Rana warns PTI to desist from breaking laws of country

ISLAMABAD, Sep 12 (APP):Advisor to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah on Thursday said that Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), should desist from breaking laws of the country.
The PTI leaders of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa have found involved in violating “code of conduct” in the last public meeting, he said while talking to a private television channel. PTI has a track record of sabotaging peace and spreading violence in the country through public gathering, he said. May 9 riots was an eye opener for everyone, he added.
About Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhawa’s provocative statement, he said Ali Amin Gandapur would not be allowed to create unrest through public meetings.
In reply to a question about public meeting permission for PTI workers, he said that PTI should review its policies and stubborn attitude. He, however said that it is the matter of provincial government for permitting the PTI members to hold public rally in Lahore or restrict them.
To a question about judicial reforms, he said, “it is the need of hour.”

30 new dengue cases reported in Punjab on Thursday

LAHORE, Sep 12 (APP): The Punjab Health Department confirmed on Thursday that 30 new cases of dengue have been recorded across the province in the last 24 hours.
According to the latest data, Rawalpindi reported 23 cases, while Kasur recorded two cases. Lahore, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal, and Chakwal each reported one case.
Over the past week, 153 new cases of dengue virus infection have been identified, bringing the total number of cases in Punjab for the year 2024 to 550.
In response to the rising number of cases, the Health Department has issued a strong advisory urging the public to maintain clean and dry surroundings to help prevent the spread of dengue virus. The department also encouraged citizens to fully cooperate with health teams actively working to control the outbreak.
For those seeking treatment, information, or wishing to register complaints related to dengue, the Health Department has provided a free helpline at 1033. Officials emphasized that vigilance and proactive measures are essential to containing the spread of the virus across the province.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi reaches Iqbal Stadium to see opening match

FAISALABAD, Sep 12 (APP): Pakistan Cricket Board’s Chairman Mohsin Naqvi reached Iqbal stadium and enjoyed the opening match between UMT Markhors and Lake City Panthers, on Thursday afternoon.
Chief Secretary Punjab & Member PCB BoG Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, Commissioner Faisalabad Silwat Saeed, RPO Dr Muhammad Abid Khan, Deputy Commissioner Capt (Retd) Nadeem Nasir, CPO Kamran Adil, officials and former cricketers were also present in the stadium.
Mohsin Naqvi said that he is very happy to see the great enthusiasm among cricket fans from Faisalabad in the stadium. Faisalabadis have proved their love for cricket, he said.
The Chairman PCB expressed best wishes to players and teams of the Bahria Town Champions One-Day Cup and hoped that new talent will emerge in this tournament.
Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board’s Chairman Mohsin Naqvi presided over the 74th meeting of the Board of Governors held at a local hotel.
According to a press release issued here, the BoG was briefed on the Bahria Town Champions One-Day Cup, which commenced at the Iqbal Stadium here on Thursday afternoon with the opening match between UMT Markhors and Lake City Panthers.
The BoG appreciated the efforts of Mohsin Naqvi in attracting and convincing leading and highly reputed organisations to partner with the tournament, in which the country’s best cricketers are participating.
The BoG also proposed that the Champions Cup, which includes events in the T20 and four-day formats, be incorporated into the PCB Constitution 2014 so that it becomes an annual feature. This will bring continuity, consistency and clarity to Pakistan’s domestic cricket pathway structure.
The BoG suggested that after witnessing the overwhelming response of the Faisalabad crowd, the PCB should take complete control of Iqbal Stadium and upgrade it to international standards, enabling the venue to be revived and host bilateral international series once again.
An update was provided to the BoG on the infrastructure projects’ progress with respect to the design and scope of work.
The members expressed their complete support and satisfaction on the projects, stating this is the need of the hour and once the projects will be completed, these will contribute in enhancing the image and profile of Pakistan and Pakistan cricket.

According to IESCO Spokesperson, the power supply of different feeders and grid stations would remain suspended for the period from 07:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, Rawalpindi City Circle, Sarafa Bazar, City, Fawara Chowk, DHQ, Iqbal Road-II, Liaqat Bagh, Muislam Town, G-15 Feeders, Jhelum Circle, Bahi Khan, Kalya, Pind Matta Khan Feeders and surrounding areas.

Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah elected as Chairman NA special committee

ISLAMABAD, Sep 12 (APP): A maiden meeting of the Special Committee of the National Assembly held on Thursday at the Parliament House in which MNA Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah was unanimously elected as the chairman of the committee.
Sahibzada Hamid Raza proposed the name of Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah as the chairman of the committee which Mehmood Khan Achakzai and other members seconded him as a Chairman, said a press release.
Members of the Committee felicitated Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah on being elected as the Chairman.
Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Affairs Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Abdul Aleem Khan also participated in the committee meeting.
MNAs Syed Naveed Qamar, Syed Aminul Haq, Muhammad Ejazul Haq, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Mr. Paulin, Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza, Gohar Ali Khan, Hameed Hussain, Mahmood Khan Achakzai participated in the meeting.

PAK, SA women set for three-match T-20 series in Multan

MULTAN, Sep 12 (APP): The Pakistan and South Africa women’s cricket teams were gearing up for an exciting three-match T-20 series, going to be played from 16 to 20 September at Multan Cricket Stadium.
The first two T-20 were scheduled for 16 and 18 September and the matches will begin at 7:00 pm, while the final match scheduled on 20 September was planned to be a morning fixture starting at 10:00 am, PCB officials said.
After the series, both teams will prepare for the ICC Women’s T-20 World Cup 2024 scheduled in the UAE. The South African team was set to depart for Dubai on September 21, while the Pakistan team will leave for the UAE on September 23.
The South African team will arrive at Lahore in the early morning on September 13 and travel to Multan by a chartered flight.
Both teams will train at the Multan Cricket Stadium on September 14 and 15 from 2:00 pm while a Pakistani cricketer will be available for short interviews before training on September 14.
Before the session scheduled on September 15, team captains Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa) and Fatima Sana (Pakistan) will hold a pre-series media conference and participate in a trophy photoshoot. After the third match, star performers from both teams will attend a post-series media conference.

Punjab’s Anti-Polio campaign enters 4th day; 11.1 mln children vaccinated so far

LAHORE, Sep 12 (APP): Punjab’s ongoing anti-polio campaign has entered its 4th day, with polio teams working tirelessly to administer vaccines door-to-door across the province.
According to the Health department on Thursday, in just the first three days, a total of 11.1 million children were successfully vaccinated against polio. The drive has seen impressive numbers in major cities, with 1.3 million children vaccinated in Lahore, 609,000 in Rawalpindi, and 927,000 in Multan. Additionally, during the first two days, over 715,000 “guest” children – those visiting from other areas – were also administered the polio vaccine.
Khizar Afzal, head of the anti-polio program, has appealed to parents to continue cooperating fully with polio teams to ensure every child is protected. Today, a catch-up drive has been launched in 12 districts, aiming to recheck all homes and vaccinate any children who may have missed their dose during the earlier days of the campaign. He emphasized that children who miss the vaccine are at higher risk of contracting polio, and called for special attention to data accuracy and remote areas.
To bolster the effectiveness of the campaign, polio teams have also been deployed at key entry and exit points throughout the province. Khizar Afzal further stressed the importance of district officers actively overseeing the campaign’s progress, noting that any challenges should be reported immediately to ensure the smooth functioning of the drive.
The campaign covers 15 districts, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Chakwal, Attock, Okara, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rajanpur. With over 110,000 personnel involved, the campaign is a key part of the government’s priority to eradicate polio and ensure the health and safety of all children in the province.

IHC summons high police officials in Umar Sultan’s case

ISLAMABAD, Sep 12 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday summoned the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations of Islamabad Police and the Superintendent of Police (SP) on next date of hearing in a petition seeking the recovery of Umar Sultan, the former security in-charge of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).
Hearing the case, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq observed that the police seemed to be unaware of their responsibilities as the incidents of theft, robbery and kidnapping were rising of in the Federal Capital, remarking that .
The petitioner’s lawyer said that on the court’s orders all the relevant information had been shared with the SP, but the progress in the case was slow.
The state counsel informed the that while the CCTV footage showed the kidnappers, but as no Safe City cameras were available for further tracking. The geo-fencing report about the incident might take another week.
After the arguments, the court summoned high-ranking police officials and adjourned the hearing till September 18.
