Series of public hearings continues in Lesco region

LAHORE, Sep 07 (APP):On the special instructions of the Ministry of Power Division, a series of open Kachehry (public/customers hearings) are being held in the Lesco region with an aim of solving problems faced by the consumers in electricity bills and other matters immediately.
Chief Executive Engineer Shahid Haider said here Saturday that public/customers hearings were being conducted in all eight circles of the Lesco The public is also being informed about this in advance through the media and Pina Flexes.
All the SDOs along with their teams are ensuring regular holding of open kachehry in their sub divisions on daily basis. Superintending Engineers (SEs) and Executive Engineers (X-Ens) are reviewing these the public hearings. Total 1381 complaints of various types were received in the open kachehry out of which 1371 complaints were redressed on the spot.
It should be noted that Chief Executive Engineer Shahid Haider himself is also making a surprise visit to the open kachehry along with his team. The customers welcomed this initiative and hoped that the Lesco will continue to make all possible efforts for the convenience of the customers in future.

Karachi administration celebrated Defence Day

KARACHI, Sep 07 (APP): The city administration celebrated Defence  Day with great enthusiasm and national spirit, under the personal supervision and guidance of Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi. Various events and programs were organized to pay tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan’s defence.
The celebrations began with a girls’ hockey match at Islahuddin Hockey Stadium, followed by art and painting competition. A tree plantation ceremony was also held at Annu Bhai Park to commemorate Defence Day. Commissioner Naqvi made the occasion memorable by planting a tree and dedicating it to Defence Day, instructing the Deputy Commissioner to ensure special care until it grows into a mature tree.
Commissioner Naqvi also met with cricketers at Annu Bhai Park, where he  offered encouragement. He assured them of the administration’s support and guidance for organising cricket matches. He paid tribute to the late Annu Bhai, a renowned sports reporter, in whose memory the park was established.
Regarding musical program was also organized by the city administration. Earlier, Commissioner Naqvi distributed prizes to the winners of the girls’ hockey match and art and painting competition at Islahuddin Hockey Stadium, alongside Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, as chief  guest gave away trophy. Olympian  Islahuddin was also present on  the occasion.

Lesco detects 455 power pilferers

LAHORE, Sep 07 (APP):The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has detected a total of 455 connections from where the customers were pilfering electricity in all its circles of five districts (Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur and Okara) during its anti-power theft campaign in last 24 hour.
A Lesco spokesman told media here Saturday that the company had also submitted FIR applications against electricity thieves, out of which 142 FIRs had been registered in respective police stations, while 18 accused had been arrested by the police.
The anti-power theft operations against electricity thieves are being conducted on the directives of the Federal Power Division and Lesco Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Engineer Shahid Haider is supervising these operations. The chief vowed that the operations would continue without discrimination until the complete end of electricity theft. The electricity pilferers as well as officers and employees who facilitate them are also being brought to justice.
During last 24 hours of the anti-power theft campaign, the spokesman added, large commercial consumers were also found involved in electricity theft and all of them were also disconnected and charged with detection units and all these connections were disconnected and charged with a total of 522,376 units as detection bill amounting to Rs 13.670 million.

Anti dengue campaign accelerated as 7 new cases reported

RAWALPINDI, Sep 07 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema said that all possible measures were being taken to control dengue.
He underlined the need of citizens cooperation with the teams of the health department to prevent dengue. He said that an increase in dengue cases was reported, yet 50% less than those in the last year.  He stressed that every citizen must play his role of self responsibility in fighting the dengue fever.
He expressed these views while presiding over an anti-dengue meeting in his office. In the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Zanira Aftab, CEO Health Dr Asif, Focal Person for Dengue Dr Ehsan, DDHOs and other related departments.  Officers attended.
He noted that with support of citizens the dengue could be eradicated forever. During the meeting, it was decided to further accelerate surveillance with special focus on tire shops, junkyards, open plots and graveyards.
The deputy commissioner said that high risk union councils should be cleaned by surveillance and area wise fogging should be done. It was apprised the meeting that 7 new cases of dengue have been reported from across the district.

Peace and stability in Balochistan top priorities: Sanaullah

ISLAMABAD, Sep 7 (APP):Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, said on Saturday that the Prime Minister’s first priority is to establish peace in Balochistan and provide relief to the people.
Talking to a private news channel, he said the plans were executed rapidly for the development of Balochistan, and matters were being resolved on a pre-arty basis.
He said that the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), being a pro-democratic party, believes in dialogue and consultation.
The PML-N leadership offered dialogue and consultation for the betterment of Pakistan several times, he added.
Shehbaz Sharif, in the past, offered a charter of economy to bring the country out of an economic quagmire, he further added.
He said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), on the other hand, was always involved in undemocratic activities, they chose the way of anarchy against the principles of democracy.

Lesco collects over Rs 3.077m from 184 defaulters

LAHORE, Sep 07 (APP):The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) recovered more than Rs 3.077 million from 184 defaulters in all the five districts- Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur and Okara- during last 24 hours of its recovery campaign.
A spokesman told media here Saturday that the company had recovered outstanding dues
of Rs 84,000 from 29 defaulters in Northern Circle; Rs 35,000 from 12 defaulters in Eastern Circle;  Rs 67,000 from 22 defaulters in Central Circle; Rs 44,000 from 06 defaulters in South Circle; Rs 35,000 from 35 defaulters in Nankana Circle; Rs 50,000 from 32 defaulters in Sheikhupura Circle; Rs 22,000 from 17 defaulters in Okara Circle; and Rs 41,000 from 31 defaulters in Kasur Circle.

Naqvi inspects progress of Gaddafi Stadium up-gradation

LAHORE, Sep 07 (APP): PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited Gaddafi Stadium to review the ongoing up-gradation project ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 here on Saturday.
During the inspection, Naqvi noted rapid progress in the construction of the water tank and steel fixing work in the basement. He stated that the basement would be completed by September 30, following which work on subsequent floors will commence.
PCB Chairman Naqvi emphasised that the first phase of Gaddafi Stadium’s up-gradation will be completed before the ICC Champions Trophy.
He reviewed the project’s progress and inspected the construction activities.
He directed the project team to adhere to the set timeline and issued necessary  instructions to the FWO and the NESPAK.
The FWO project director briefed Naqvi on the progress of the Gaddafi Stadium project during the visit.
PCB’s Director Infrastructure, Director Domestic, Senior General Manager Infrastructure,
and relevant officials from the NESPAK and the FWO were also present.

PM congratulates nation on half-century Prophet-hood’s finality resolution

ISLAMABAD, Sep 7 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday congratulated the nation on the 50th anniversary of the historic parliamentary resolution affirming the finality of the Prophet-hood of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

In a social media post on X, he highlighted the resolution’s significance in strengthening faith and addressing ambiguities about Prophet-hood’s finality. He stated that on September 7, 1974, the Pakistani parliament played a crucial role by adopting the resolution on the finality of Prophet-hood (PBUH).

He praised the parliamentarians, Ulema, Mashaikh, and scholars who contributed to its adoption. The prime minister underscored that the finality of Prophet-hood is a core principle of Islam, central to which every Muslim is dedicated.
